Tracy K. Smith, from “Don’t You Wonder, Sometimes?”, Life on Mars
Hope you’re enjoying the last 100 days of the decade, lads.
kinda funny when english teachers say stuff like “i can tell if you didnt read the book” or “i can tell when people bs their paper”
no you cant. you can tell when people are bad at bs-ing their paper. i didnt even read the sparknotes and i barely skimmed the wikipedia and you gave me an A. you kneel before my throne unaware that it was born of lies
“YOU KNEEL BEFORE MY THRONE UNAWARE THAT IT WAS BORN OF LIES” IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SENTENCES I’VE EVER READ AND I CAN’T FUCKING BELIEVE IT’S ON A POST ABOUT BULLSHITTING ON ASSIGNMENTS.
listen I’m an english teacher now and I don’t think people understand how bad people are at bullshitting. multiple people per semester will submit the most flagrantly clueless papers I’ve ever seen. one student submitted an “essay” about the book that was literally just rephrasing the chapter titles over and over. another student was supposed to write an essay on local history and turned in a 3 page paper about how she won a cheerleading competition in high school bc she didn’t do any of the research. Both of these students then wrote me angrily because they got Ds. I derailed my class for a full week JUST to teach these people how to bullshit because I thought everyone on earth knew how to use sparknotes, skim stuff, and fake their way thru an essay. it turns out that 50% of the class literally did not know you can and should get summaries, essay topics, and relevant research info online, OR how to fuckin skim a chapter. It was called Bullshit Week and it was the most valuable lesson I taught. people contacted me about it after and said it was their favorite english unit ever. when english teachers say “i can tell if u didn’t read the book” it’s because we expect you to SEEM like you read the book since “reading the book” is like the sole point of the class. If you’re gonna try to con me I at least expect to be dazzled. dazzle is how I got my job.

i know its been said b4 but growing up suicidal and then reaching an age you never planned to live to is extremely stressful and terrifying, and we deserve more credit for not killing ourselves and THEN having to make up for the time we spent not caring if we lived or died and not doing work to improve our lives.
i feel behind in life because i spent the last 7 ish years not giving a shit about my future because i assumed id be dead before id have to deal with that, and now i have to start making decisions that many people started considering years ago.
i just feel like. suicidal people dont get credit for firstly, how stressful life is while suicidal, how difficult it is just to do simple tasks, and secondly, how hard it is to recover from years spent not caring once a person is no longer actively suicidal or no longer having suicidal ideations.
adulthood is just a never-ending cycle of So You Think You Can Wait Another Day To Do Your Laundry
There’s a hidden level of brilliance in this moment:
Chef Boyardee is known today for his cheap out-of-the-can pasta, but in his native Italy he was a renowned expert chef. He was reduced to the face of microwaveable eateries after his death.
Sound like anyone else from this movie?
Chef Ettore Boiardi, known today as Chef Hector Boyardee, was a key player in keeping poverty struck families fed for a low price, before he ever came out with the canned pasta line. He would jar his sauce in milk bottles and provide bags of dry noodles for families in Cleveland, Ohio’s Little Italy sector. It was during the Depression, and pasta could be made in large portions at a low cost. This was the start of his venture.
After years of success, he eventually opened his canning facility, opened his restaurant “Il Giardino d’Italia” in New York, and helped feed the Allies during the war. Everyone always glazes over this part of his life, especially the Cleveland part. He lived here. He DIED here. He’s BURIED HERE. My mother took care of him at the nursing home she worked for in her early 20′s when he was ailing and spoke of nothing but the kindness he and his family radiated when they were there. Chef Boiardi was an immigrant with a dream and was always there to help those in need, because he knew what it was like to be in that position. Never let that go.
I had thought he was a fictionalized mascot, like Aunt Jemima or Betty Crocker, but this is really interesting.
“Proud of his Italian heritage, Boiardi sold his products under the brand name Chef Boy-Ar-Dee so that his American customers could pronounce his name properly.“
And if you have a name that isn’t “standard” in America, that is a Mood.
CutiePie Sensei as Wonder Woman
have you ever tried to write a diary it’s freakin hard and all the movies lied ok

idk about y'all…..but im really ready for the next phase of my life to begin aka the part where im stable and secure and not worried about much
me, in september when the leaves started changing and the weather was a little cooler: seasonal depression WHOM??????? i am healthy and HAPPY and i LOVE fall! pumpkin spice lattes yas! what was i THINKING? i’m remembering it as worse than it was in years past!!
me, 8 days into november when its freezing and getting dark at 5pm: ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. oh oh oh OH. oh ya………
I can’t believe this is real!
I knew this would happen when I first heard of this
of course it’s anish kapoor
I’d like to address the fact that this person didn’t test with their hand or something first. They straight up dived into a hole to test if it actually was real or not. This amount of stupid I can only dream of being.
My favorite thing about "Ok Boomer" is that, instead of arguing, the youth unconsiously and collectively decided to literally just verbally wave boomers off and treat them like children who won't shut up and i think that's beautiful
harry keeps outharrying himself. he drops a massive announcement then goes for a brisk walk in london inexplicably holding two fruit.
