Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler and Chris Lindsey - June 2008
So I stumbled upon this comment, that mentioned that Best Days Of Your Lives was recorded in June 2008. I remembered having a picture of Taylor and Kellie in the studio. Imagine my surprise when I reverse searched the photo to search for more sources and nothing came up. Enjoy this rare pic.

the "you drew stars around my scars but now i'm bleeding" to "trace the evidence make it make some sense why the wound is still bleeding" to "so long, london, stitches undone" pipeline just hit me 😵💫😵💫
I'm not sure if you ment older or just any Tay songs, but ever since showgirl's acoustics came out I've been wishing for a Father Figure acoustic version.
But if you prefer smth older, I also haven't stopped wishing for Let's Go Battle studio version 😭 still haunts me that it didn't make it to the sn vault
Hiii, im sorry if i wasnt specific, but i do concepts of every era✨ (can be released or unreleased)

it all comes back to are you centering the art or the gossip. and the gossip of it all can and does influence how you metabolize and interpret the artistry but is the end goal the gossip or is it a higher deeper richer understanding of the art. i know where my line is and i sleep very well at night because of it. this is what i meant when i said art is art and real life is real life btw

“On Red, there was a song that I wrote a line in a hotel room when I was 22 years old called Nothing New, where I’m, it sounds ridiculous, but at 22 years old, I felt completely washed up. I felt like maybe the only thing that made me special was that I was this like, teen phenom, whatever I was looked at as, so I wrote this song, and it includes lines like, ‘How can a person know everything at 18 and nothing at 22,’ cause when I was 18, I had the Fearless album come out, and I had my first international no 1s, and everybody was like, ‘Oh, this writing, it’s so true, it’s so honest. We feel like she deserves to be here.” And then there was this big upheaval of, ‘No, she doesn’t. No, she doesn’t. She sucks actually.’ And it was like, it really turned the tables on my perception of like, love can be so quickly handed to you and then taken away, and it’s this kind of strange thing with fame, and that was the first time I’d ever grappled with that. Somebody was like, ‘Oh, you’re 22 years old and you’re saying like, ‘Are you tired of me? If you’re not yet, are you going to get tired of me?’’ Because it’s usually something you’d sing about later in life, but the entertainment industry, I’ll tell ya, there’s 10 years for every year you’re in it! But it’s fun.”
“There are so many different ways that a song begins in my world. I’ll take an example, like the song Elizabeth Taylor. I’m riding in the car with Travis, I go on and on and on explaining to Travis like, why I love Elizabeth Taylor so much. She fought for artists’ rights, she was exploited in so many ways and yet she kept her humanity, she kept her humor, she kept her passion for life and I’m just going on and on, and I’m like, ‘Her eyes were violet! Some people said they were blue, some people said they were violet. I think they were violet.’ And we arrive, we get home, he gets out of the car, and I can’t get out of my head this intrusive melody of, ‘I’d cry my eyes violet, Elizabeth Taylor!’ and I’m just like scrambling to open my record app on my phone.’”
— Taylor to The New York Times on the origins of Elizabeth Taylor (x)
“I kinda like being a narrator that’s not the person I relate to. So the narrator in Clara Bow is either a studio, like a Hollywood studio person, or a label executive who’s sitting in my mind, behind a desk, and meeting with a brand new starlet who has just come to town. The exec says ‘You look like Clara Bow in this light, it’s remarkable. You’re so special, you’re amazing, we’re going to make you just like her. In my mind, that girl was Stevie Nicks, right? So Stevie Nicks sits down, they tell her she looks like Clara Bow, she’s got those big moon eyes, and, ‘We’re gonna make you just like her. Don’t worry. We’re gonna put you through this machine, and you’ll be a god. The second verse says, ‘You look like Stevie Nicks in this light, the hair and lips.’ So in my mind, that was me that sat down opposite that desk, right? I sit down at a record label and they’re like, ‘You look like Stevie Nicks. We’ll make you the next Stevie Nicks.’ And basically you learn that like, you’re in a machine, and they’re trying to make you into a woman that they just idealized and then discarded. The entertainment industry love-bombs women, right? ‘We love you. We don’t know who you are, why are you even here?’ And so in the last verse, in my mind, it’s a new artist that sits down across from a record label desk, and they say, ‘You look like Taylor Swift in this light, we’re loving it. You’ve got edge, she never did, the future’s bright, dazzling.’ And cause that’s another thing you get when you’re a female in the music or entertainment industry, movies, whatever. It’s like, ‘Oh, you’re like this person that we—they name a big name,’ and they’re like, ‘But you’re gonna be so much better, no, no, no, you’re gonna be cooler. You’re gonna be so much better.’ Like, to offset the comparison.”

Apart from one AppleMusic exclusive clip where Taylor tells us which were the first & last songs written for the album, the only information any of us can go off on is chartered jets to Sweden and matching Taylor's nails from the Eras Doc clips to candids (a very tedious task, but I did my best!)
So, all of this to say, there's a lot of guess work being done here, but I think it's fun to try and place all the pieces of the Showgirl puzzle!
2024
July/August
In an AppleMusic excludive clip Taylor reveals "Elizabeth Taylor" was the first song written/made for the album.
Taylor wearing Team USA Summer Olympics merch.
Only song we can confirm from the Eras tour clips here is "Honey", but it's almost certain that there are other songs made during this period from there being multiple clips. (Through process of elimination, the only songs these other clips could be from are Elizabeth Taylor, Father Figure, RTF, Actually Romantic, and TLOAS title track.)
Her nails are hard to see clearly, but they're definitely short and have a nude-ish color.
The period of time she had similar looking nails was:
a) from July 27th Munich shows until August 15th London shows (left), before these shows she was in Hamburg and had blue nails (right)
Additionally on August 4th Taylor is rumored to have gone to Sweden after the Poland shows. This same plane went Vienna-Stockholm after the shows were cancelled. Taylor did confirm that she got the announcement of the Vienna concerts being cancelled while on a plane. This is the least confirmed flight but matches up perfectly to me.
Less likely and matches the nails less is option b) August 20th (last London show, the other London shows she had pink nails with blue stars) until pre September 5th (her next sighting at the Chiefs v Raven game, because her nails are now clearly gold.)
September
September 7th - Out in NYC, last we see of her with short gold nails.
September 8th - US Open she has new nails, the first and the only time we see her with short red nails until after Christmas.
BTS of Showgirl sessions photo from Taylor's Instagram shows her with the same nails (notably wearing a tshirt and shorts, so more likely from late summer than Christmas.)
We don't know what she recorded in this photo, only that she definitely recorded something. (Through process of elimination, the only songs this could be are Father Figure, RTF, Actually Romantic, and TLOAS title track.)
The last time she could have possibly had these nails is September 10th, because after that she has completely different ones.
September 11th (first seen) / September 21st (last seen) - the long black nails.
Sep 27th / Oct 4th - Taylor attends her second cousin's wedding then flies to Sweden right after. She returns to NY on the 4th.
This is most likely when she records "Opalite", "Eldest Daughter" & "Cancelled" (long brown nails, which I can't find her having in any candid photo. After this she has gold nails for months and before this we have regular photos of her with other nails.)
(top: photos of the recording session from Taylor's Instagram / bottom left: clip of Taylor recording Eldest Daughter / bottom right: close up to confirm she has the same brown nails in the second instagram photo)
(If you're wondering if the glitter freckles help the timeline in any way, I answered an ask about it here)
To confirm the second photo is of the recording of "Cancelled", on the bottom are Max and Shellback wearing the same clothes in a clip where we can hear them producing the song and where Taylor is singing the lyrics.
On February 24th 2026 Taylor posted two videos of the recording sessions of "Opalite", where we can see she has the same brown nails.
October 7th (left) / November 1st Indianapolis Eras show (right) - Starry gold nails then much shorter darker starry gold nails (from what I can tell at least, there is a difference.)
The October ones are the nails she had when she made "Wood".
(left: clip of her singing the song / right: clip where everyone's in the same clothes + close up of her nails)
Dec 14th / Dec 20th - Taylor in Sweden again. (Can't really see her nails)
This is when Taylor made "The Fate Of Ophelia" & "Wi$h Li$t".
(left: clip of them having a traditional swedish Christmas drink / right: clip of them playing The Fate of Ophelia)
In an AppleMusic excludive clip Taylor reveals "Wi$h Li$t" was the last song written/made for the album.
December 27th - Taylor is in NYC with short red nails.
✨️ Complications & Inconsistencies ✨️
Taylor said outright Elizabeth Taylor was made first. We have a highly suggestive flight pre London shows that is most likley when she recorded it, we know Honey nails only match this period too, and we have an early September recording session confirmed due to her red nails.
The issue is she said she was inspired to make this song by a clip she was sent by her parents of Elizabeth Taylor's son comparing the two. That clip/story came out September 23rd via The Guardian.
So, either there is another earlier clip in August that none of us have found yet, or the story is a small white lie Taylor told to maybe be granted permission to release the song from Elizabeth Taylor's family. That is **pure speculation** on my part, who knows. Either way, it's an inconsistency that bothers me.
Lastly, HUGE thank you to @taylor-on-your-dash for the assistance! Check out her blog where she has endless incredible songwriting timelines, interview timelines, etc, which I revisit almost daily 🫶
You said there was nothing in the world that could stop it // You said I needed a brave man // You said it was a great love, one for the ages // You say, "What a mind," // You said I had to trust more freely // You said you were gonna grow up, then you were gonna come find me // You said you'd come and get me, but you were 25 // You say, "I don't understand," // You say I abandoned the ship // You said I'm the love of your life about a million times
