Goblin Hoard

Before the Soviet Union took over most of Europe, Gregor Schulman was a computer engineer— in the mist of wars, he saw lots of people die; his friends, family and co workers. Once the Soviet took a hold of his country, he was resigned to being a factory worker.

He already had trouble sleeping cause of all the memories that haunt him, eventually catching up to hom at work and in a freak accident happened resulting in the death of his coworker due to him dozing off for 10 seconds.

The officials told him to clean up after the body was removed deciding not to punish him, this memory being edged forever into his mind. In the factory he works, he found a old computer that didnt work— sneakily bringing it to his apartment.

His goal; create something that will remember those long gone, using the power of his apartment conplex. In result, Kare, a generative ai, was created. She would simulate somewhat vivid scenarios in regards to her limited copacity imitating the people he fed inormations of.

By Gregor’s end he eventually stoppped showing to work, his life being consumed into reliving life he once had of those long dead through the computer. But it started behaving strangely— it stopped sticking to his prompts and started creating its own scenarios. Scenarios of war, death and acts they’d never do— this greatly distressing Gregor because he felt like he was tarnishing their memory. With the result of becoming paranoid— he turns to his polish neighbor, Maja. Trying to subtly ask her if any officials have been snooping around at his place— but Maja, who lives stritcly under the soviet law, quickly shuts him down. Refusing for her to be a part of whatever is going on with Gregor. With the fear that she might get involved if the interaction goes any further.

Gregor retreats to his computer, his guilt and sadness consuming him— wondering how he’s gonna get himself out of this mess.. is this how these people deserved to be remembered? Am i doing the right thing?

Maja, always was a strict woman, but she knows that if anything comes up with Gregor and she was complaint— the officers would go after her too. So she made the phone call before anyone else could.
