Hey if you went to see the movie Obsession and laughed when Nicki was getting raped or when any of the scenes where she broke down were happening, what the actual fuck is wrong with you? I was sobbing, being reminded of what happened to me and people in my theater were cackling like it was the funniest thing ever.

I know the internet has a moral superiority complex in fandom and shipping but here's a hard truth some of you need to hear. Some ships are just not going to be healthy. And that's okay. But you cannot get mad at someone for writing canon compliant ship because the dynamic is "too toxic." Sometimes it's just going to be that way, you can't shoehorn it into being a healthy dynamic and also canon compliant. You can wrangle it any which way you want in aus or canon divergence, but if people are going to take an unhealthy dynamic and keep it that way because they like when things are canon compliant you cannot be mad at them. bad things happen to good people. Good things happen to bad people. Neutral things happen to both. That's life. You cannot expect everything to fit a narrow moral code for you, that's common sense. If a dynamic is not healthy it is up to your adult mind to acknowledge that the dynamic isn't okay in real life but is interesting to explore as a concept in fiction.
