" I actually called to ask about something I've read," Dean says taking advantage of a lull in their conversation. This could have been a simple text with a picture attached to it, but then he wouldn't have spent twenty minutes simply talking with Cas, reconnecting with him across the physical distance between them.
" How can I help you, Dean?"
" Found this book while checking one of the storage rooms, it's about angels," he explains, shifting in his chair, " it says something about an enochian incantation," he reads the passage out loud for Cas, a general description of the enochian text and it's meaning" but it isn't written down on the book and I was wondering if you remembered it or if it's even a real thing."
The other side of the line goes quiet and Dean smiles to himself, picturing Castiel frowning as he searches every corner of his vast memory for what Dean is asking for, " yes, I think I do remember it, it could be useful for us at some point, do you want me to recite it to you so you can write it down?" Dean is well aware this could have been another text, but it's not like he is going to miss a chance to keep hearing Cas' voice, even if it makes his hands itch with the need to simply reach out and touch him, pull him closer, keep him here beside him.
" Sure," he pauses, " nothing is going to happen, right?" Castiel laughs lightly, and Dean bets he is shaking his head even if he can't see him.
" Of course not, it needs a whole ritual and a list of ingredients to work, I wouldn't do anything that could put you in danger, Dean." He adds the last part with that serious tone of his, one that doesn't leave any room for doubts.
" I know," Dean replies, his voice turning soft, he reaches for one of his notebooks and curses under his breath when he can't find a pen, smiling victoriously when he does find one" okay, ready when you are."
He writes down everything Cas says, waiting for him as he pauses to remember the next part, " that's all, I think," Castiel tells him, " I will reread it and translate it when I am back, just to be sure."
Dean, puts the pen down and is going to thank him when Castiel speaks again, " wait a minute, I actually forgot something," Dean is a bit confused, because he can clearly hear a smile in Cas' voice but he picks up the pen again anyway. " Can you write this down separately?"
He can tell Cas is still smiling and he is too focused on imagining that smile to actually process what he is writing. He is still learning, but he does know some enochian now so, when he reads the words as Castiel finishes, they are familiar in a way that makes his heart ache, he misses Cas so much, his grip on his phone tightens, " I love you too, Cas."
