Palm Sunday in the Philippines.  This is my first Palm Sunday here after returning from a four-year stint in the desert.  Great to see everyone carrying and waving the "palaspas", the Filipinos' version of the palm fronds that were waved when Jesus entered Jerusalem.  Palm Sunday in Dubai was a more austere occasion, with the churchgoers waving a single palm leaf up in the air.  It truly is more fun and colorful in the Philippines!

No wonder it's called a budget airline. The boarding passes look like ordinary receipts! Lol.

My first time to fly Seair (or any other airline aside from Philippine Airlines). The Manila Domestic Airport is the oldest airport. My imagination is running wild, thinking of how things used to be in the olden days. Excited to take my first plane ride for 2013. Will this be another jetsetting year? That remains to be seen. Tacloban, can't wait to see you! :)

Quinta Market in Quiapo, Manila.  I would never associate the color blue with a wet market but this is what catches one's eyes as one passes by this busy street.  That and the colorful tiles depicting the produce sold in the market of course.  

A reminder of my Dubai life in Quiapo - an arch with the words Ahlan Wasahlan (Welcome in Arabic) Muslim Town and the ubiquitous onion-shaped dome of a mosque with the crescent moon on top.  To represent the Moros (indigenous Muslims in the Philippines), you have the sarimanok (a legendary bird of the Maranaos) and the panolong (the two beams protruding in this photo) made ornate by okir (a type of design that traces its roots to Arabic style).
