So I think Iāve seen people discuss this beforeāthe idea that Viktor is Yuuriās coach, as well as his boyfriend/fiance/husband/whatever you imagine their relationship becomes post-season 1. Iāve seen a lot of meta about how Yuuri has to disconnect the idea of Viktor-as-Idol from Viktor-as-Person (And Iāve even written some of that meta myself) but I canāt recall seeing a lot of meta about Yuuri having to separate Viktor-as-coach from Viktor-as-lover.
Coaches are in charge of you. Thereās a power dynamic there that is hard to ignore, and Yuuri knows that Viktor would never take advantage of it. Thatās not what this is about. But there is a somewhat natural human reflex, shall we say, to reacting negatively to someone saying No youāre doing this wrongĀ or You need to do better.Ā
Of course Yuuri understands that this is what a coach does. The only reason Viktor is saying these things is because he wants Yuuri to improve. But itās difficult all the same.
I think there are a lot of times, especially once Viktor retires for good and becomes Yuuriās coach, and theyāve been together for awhile and Yuuri doesnāt have the constant swirling thought of Heās leaving soon to occupy his thoughts like he did that first summer in Hasetsuāthere are a lot of times when Yuuri has to actually put effort into separating Viktor into two separate peopleāor at least two separate sets of motivations.
āThat was the sloppiest Salchow Iāve ever seen,ā Viktor says, and Yuuri has to grit his teeth and nod and do it again, and not react to it like he would if Viktor had just said something like Dinner was horribleĀ because thatās not whatās going on. Viktor isnāt saying these things to hurt him, and moreover Viktor is not talking to him as his husbandĀ right now.
Sometimes, after particularly frustrating practice days where nothing seems to be going right and Viktor never seems happy, Yuuri has to hang back and put himself back into a mindset thatās safe for homeāone that wonāt make him bark at Viktor for putting the forks in the dishwasher the wrong way. Because itās not the forksāwhen Yuuri says Why canāt you put the forks in the dishwasher the right wayĀ what is actually trying to come out of his mouth is Youāre my husband and you keep telling me Iām doing bad and it hurts, and he knows he canāt say that, because Viktor is a good coach. Heās an amazingĀ coach, but he comes from the Yakov Feltsman School of Brutal Honesty.
Yuuri knows that he wouldnāt feel nearly so torn up if it was Yakov telling him these things. But Viktorās voice is the same one that laughs with him over dinner, and whispers to him in bed, and to hear that voice continually tell him heās not quite good enoughĀ is difficult.
But then he gets home, and Coach Nikiforov has dropped away to be replaced by Vitya, Yuuriās husband, who smiles at him when he walks in the door and says,Ā āWelcome home, Kitten,ā and Yuuri canāt help but melt into him.
āI think practice went really well today,ā Viktor tells him over dinner.Ā āYour Lutz is looking good. Itāll be an amazing program by the time we leave for Skate America.ā
āYou think so?ā Yuuri murmurs, and what he wants to say is then why didnāt you say that at the rink, but he knows. He knows why.
And Viktor, his husband, looks up at him and beams and says,Ā āDarling, you know I always think youāre amazing.ā
And maybe, eventually, Viktor rolls over in bed and puts a hand on his hip and murmurs,Ā āYou know that everything I say in practice is meant to help you improve, right? And that Iām never trying to insult you, or hurt your feelings? I love you just as much as your coach as I do as your husband.ā
āI know,ā Yuuri whispers, and kisses him.
Eventually, Yuuri realizes that itās a good thing that heās compartmentalized Viktor like this. Sometimes Viktor annoys him to the point that he can barely see straight, and sometimes he and Viktor get into pretty heated arguments in the middle of the rink, but itās nothing that a coach and student wouldnāt fight over. They donāt fight about the laundry at work, and they donāt fight about work while theyāre doing the laundry. In the end, it helps Yuuri to keep a professional air about him, which is necessary when working with the love of your life day in and day out.
(And if once or twice, Yuuri and Viktor have had something that could be called hate sexĀ in the locker rooms after a particularly bad practice? Well. Gentlemen donāt kiss and tell.)

How ep 11 and 12 just threw away YoIās chance at being realistic (albeit exaggerated) sports anime lol.
This is how the score should have been tbh. I stay close to the original scoring for SP, with Yurioās WR is within the max score of the program.
For FS, Yurio violated Zayak Rule and fell on his butt. It costs him 13.5 points. Yuuriās WR in this is 223.68 which is a lil bit over 222.56 (Victorās).
Programs breakdown under the cut (because I might edit it later Iām so tired.)

figure skating meme: [1/?] favorite programs: satoko miyahara // the planets
āThe theme song Planets is about āthe fight of peace and loveā. As a characteristic, I try to express thatĀ āVenus = strong womanā. I hope the choreography of the steps can make you feel that.ā
BUT HOW CUTE IS IT THAT VIKTOR MORE OR LESS ALWAYS MEETS YUURI WITH OPEN ARMS AFTER A PERFORMANCE
HE IS SO PUREĀ
and even after Yuuri is disappointed after his Eros performance Viktor shows support in a fitting way, by instead just being by Yuuriās side while still giving him space, which is important to note after Yuuri expressed discomfort with too much physical closeness while in a stressed state of mind
VIKTOR ALWAYS DOES HIS BEST TO SUPPORT YUURI ALWAYSĀ
I love him so much because even at the times when he messes up he listens to Yuuri and changes his behavior to better fit Yuuriās needs and itās so respectful and good

No Victor we Binktop like men
soulmate au where yuuri thought his soulmateās name was binktop
And when they meet Viktor tells Yuuri that theyāre soulmates and Yuuri is like No, youāre mistaken, my soulmate is someone named Binktop :/
Yuuri never tells Victor about the name on his wrist and falls in love with him not caring wheter heās his soulmate or not, because being with him just feels so good. Victor respects his boundaries, never asking why he always covers his wrists even when practicing or showering. He may not be Yuuriās soulmate and he knows it and it hurts. But he loves him so much that genes and predestination donāt matter. Yuuri canāt help but feel guilty everytime he looks at their interwined hands because he knows that Victor, who has āYuuriā written in kanji on his wrist, thinks that theyāre soulmates. They clearly arenāt. Victor knows, because why would Yuuri cover his wrists if they were?, and Yuuri knows too. But this love feels so right and fills their hearts and pushes them both in a better direction. When they exchange rings in Barcelona they have already stopped caring about the whole soulmate bullshit. Theyāll make it work anyways, destiny or not. Yet Yuuri canāt help but blush when Victor accidentally pulls back his sleeve, revealing a small āŠŠøŠŗŃоŃā on his right wrist. He doesnāt know why Victor is laughing and smiling and crying so suddenly, but he laughs and smiles and cries with him anyways, hugging him tight. āWe match,ā Victor finally says, and holds him tighter. Yuuri buries his nose in his shoulder and wishes he could bury himself alive too, for forgetting that Cyrillic was even a thing for ten fucking years. But this is not the right time to feel ashamed. After all, he just got engaged to his soulmate.
⦠Alright, now I really need to write this properly.
This is the best addition I could have asked for im literally crying
