In my opinion, it’s really unnecessary to turn Sektor into a female just to make her Bi-Han’s love interest. Very unnecessary. NRS had so many opportunities to make Bi-Han and Sareena a couple! It all started back in Mythologies: Sub-Zero.

Why they messed this up, I can’t explain. Maybe the idea of making “Bireena” in MK was a regret? But that doesn’t make sense since they showed several hints about Bi-Han and Sareena over the years.

If it was a mistake to make them a couple, why didn’t they explain this to their fans? Or say that this wasn’t planned? Instead, they gave false hope, so in the end it all just becomes a disappointment (see Khaos Reigns).

Because I also follow the Tekken lore, I can say that the MK team should take a look at Harada and his team — they made Jin and Xiaoyu a couple and actually explained it in interviews. For more information, you can check out the articles of my friend @purpura-xiao

So I understand the big dislike for the Bi-Han × Sektor pairing. In my opinion, it feels like MK didn’t care about Bi-Han. I read somewhere on Reddit that maybe MK even hates Bi-Han…? So, making Sektor female just to become Bi-Han’s love interest feels very forced. Instead of spending time developing it in the DLC, they rushed it just to make more money.

Bi-Han is someone who makes wrong decisions, which lead him down a darker path. He needs redemption. And Sektor — now a female — isn’t the right partner for that. Instead of helping him, she leads him deeper into darkness! Sareena was the only one who could have helped him — if not as a love interest, then at least as a friend!

If you regret Bireena or want another love interest for Bi-Han, why didn’t you create another female character who actually fits him? Someone who helps Bi-Han find the right path? Maybe not as a fighter — maybe just a minor character like Harumi?

I feel so sorry for everyone — for Bireena fans and for headcanon fans — who faced disappointment. It would have been better in MK1 if Bi-Han were alone instead of being forced into a relationship with a love interest who turns into a woman by force.

i love mortal kombat in general but i hated so much about khaos reigns. i have always hated Sektor. in every timeline i hate sektor. if sektor has a million haters I'm one of them. if sektor has one hater, it's me. if sektor has zero haters I'm dead. to put one of my favorite characters in a forced romance with a gender bent version of my LEAST favorite character?! the audacity. to fuck up the origin of noob saibot in general, gross, hated it.
