Before June I have to share one of my favorite tiktoks
my bountiful harvest of slop
thanks for the submission!
i still think about the fucking quesadilla terf
iirc it was like this terf who was absolutely fuming because her brother was dating a trans woman and she started claiming that she was clearly male socialized because the terf made quesadillas for dinner and the trans woman was like "wow :) this is really good, what is it?" and if she was a REAL woman she would instinctively KNOW what a quesadilla is
anyway it turns out the reason the poor woman didn't know what it was was because the terf had used hummus instead of cheese for some fucking reason so it wasn't even a quesadilla
I can’t remember if I told you guys this but my grandpa paid a guy to put up a rock retaining wall in the backyard when my grandparents moved into their house in 1966. They live at the bottom of a mountain. The wall finally collapsed this year and my grandfather with dementia was PISSED OFFFFFF and he wanted so badly to call the guy who did it and chew him out for doing a bad job. My grandma is trying to explain that the wall lasted 60 years and the guy who did the work is probably dead and it TURNS OUT HE IS STILL ALIVE. Now we’re worried grandpa is going to get through to him (small town) and we’re going to see two 85 year old men come to blows over a rock wall that has been there since the mid-60s. My grandpa is a scrapper, he’s been to jail over a bar fight, the possibility that he WOULD fight this guy is high.
To top it off? The stone mason is the only person in town with one arm so grandpa would definitely recognize him if he saw him. If that is your grandpa, please protect him from my grandpa.

I now present to you....how it feels to be a Vincent/Human Vox fan but not a Vox fan:
"I can't believe he's gone...He never got to go to Rome...😰😥
"WE'RE THE SAME PERSON."
"Sometimes I can still hear him....I MISS YOU VINCENT WHITTMANNN😭😭😭😭😭"
"FOR FUCKS SAKE."
Also extremely rare Vox drawing moment
Its 5:03am.
So true twin
And its like I don't HATE Vox. Season 2 was great
If I had to pick between Vox or Alastor I'd pick Vox
He has ALL of the qualities that should make me a simp for him. He's funny and charming and an egotistical asshole
I just...can't find myself to love him. There's something missing from Vox
And Vincent Whittman has that something
In the Tenna vs Vox debate, I say this:
Tenna is better than Vox. Vincent Whittman is better than both of them
YEAH, EXACTLY. Vox is my #2 fave, second only to himself while alive.
Also, I realized that my Vincent Whittman description above failed to mention the serial killer factor. Massive oversight. We don’t see Vox do murder with quite the same zest that he had as his human self, and in hell killing people is expected and doesn’t stick, so his specific brand of ruthlessness hits differently. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy seeing all of Vincent’s crazy shit stuffed into the TV man, and I appreciate his sick overlord powers and everything— but there is something so irresistibly juicy about a character who’s like, “I’m just a normal goofy little guy! :) (I’ᴍ ʜᴀʀʙᴏʀɪɴɢ ᴀ ʜᴏʀʀɪғɪᴄ sᴇᴄʀᴇᴛ ʟɪғᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ᴅᴀʀᴋ ᴀᴍʙɪᴛɪᴏɴs sᴛʀᴏɴɢ ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ ᴛᴏ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴏʀ ᴅɪᴇ ғᴏʀ)”
YEESSS!!!
Also I noticed while the whole thing with Vox is "he's using other people to get his power" and that he's only so powerful because of the work of others (ex Val and Vel, and Alastor saying he needs him on the team)
MEANWHILE VINCENT DID EVERYTHING BY HIMSELF I DIDN'T SEE NO "PARTNERS" OR "TEAMWORK". My boy took the industry by storm by himself
Also yes look how adorable he is <3
ALSO TRUE. We stan an independent murderer ❤️
US VINCENT WHITTMAN FANS NEED TO STAND UP FR 🔥🔥
AGREED!!! WE ONLY HAVE EACH OTHER AND ONE MEASLY SONG TO KEEP US GOING 😭

hbo max blocks screenshots even when I use the snipping tool AND firefox AND ublock which is a fucking first. i will never understand streaming services blocking the ability to take screenshots thats literally free advertising for your show right there. HOW THE HELL IS SOMEBODY GONNA PIRATE YOUR SHOW THROUGH SCREENSHOTS. JACKASS
somewhere out there is a guy who meticulously takes screenshots of every individual frame of his favorite tv shows and then painstakingly etches each one onto a roll of film which he puts into his old timey projector and recreates the footage as a silent film with his own lavishly hand-lettered dialogue cards and original score that he plays on his upright piano and charges audiences one shiny penny a play. at last, big media has finally outsmarted ol' Zachary Zoetrope
PSA for everyone who doesn't know, explained simply
this is NOT because of blocking screenshots, it's because of HOW streaming sites use your computer's hardware to optimise performance, which means the thing rendering the video and the thing capturing your screen aren't the SAME thing. so they can't talk together.
you can fix this by going to your browser settings, searching for "hardware acceleration", and turning that off.
This also fixes screen sharing to other screens. It has been GODSEND
type this in the toolbar to find this setting in firefox: about:preferences#searchResults
ol' Zachary Zoetrope is back in business!

been thinking about inside job. i miss my wife
be proud of who you are <3
“oh no, my audience has begun to guess the big twists of my story and are accurately predicting what will happen!”
incorrect response: write the rest of the story to be as twisty, shocking and counter to expectations as possible, regardless of whether this is a logical or satisfying way for the plot to go
correct response:
can someone elaborate on the “make hoax” and “post angry tweet about “leak”“ part. i’m stupid and don’t understand things
sure!
(you’re not stupid. I posted this thinking it would amuse a handful of mutuals who all knew the context and that would be about it, so I didn’t think about providing any other explanation. I had no idea it would spread this far.)
I’ll start from the very beginning just to be thorough. so this is Alex Hirsch, creator and head writer of Gravity Falls, a show which had a big focus on mystery, conspiracies, codes and ciphers, etc. the whole plot is kicked off by one of the main characters finding a mysterious old journal in the woods, which detailed all kinds of weird and supernatural things, but then ended abruptly with the author saying they had to hide the journal because they were being watched. the central driving mystery of the show, therefore, was the question of who wrote the journal and what happened to them.
now, the thing about Gravity Falls is that, while it must be said that the writers weren’t always quite as sure of their plans as we tend to like to think they are, it is very much a fair play mystery, with legitimate clues to what was going on. but the writers were caught off guard by how quickly the show attracted a dedicated audience, including a lot of people outside the primary presumed demographic, who started solving the clues faster than expected. so some of the fans were able to correctly guess who the author was before it was revealed in the show, and the theory started spreading. this put the writers in something of a panic, because this was THE mystery that the whole story revolved around, with ¾ of the show building up to the dramatic reveal in the middle of season 2. they wanted it to be a mystery that could be figured out, sure, but they weren’t prepared for people to solve it so far in advance of when it was planned to be revealed, which would have really taken away from the big moment. they weren’t going to change the main story itself, but having been caught unaware by how much attention the fans were paying, they wanted to up the ante and make the mystery more complex to solve going forward–but first they needed to buy some time and throw the fandom off the scent for a little longer.
hence, Alex’s plan as described above. they whipped up a fake shot that appears to give away the identity of the author as being another character in the show, put it on a screen in the studio as if it was a real animation frame, took a picture of it, and ‘leaked’ it online. it was initially decided to be a hoax (albeit, I think, presumed to be a hoax originating from outside the production team), until Alex posted this tweet:
…before quickly deleting it (though not so quickly that it didn’t get seen, of course).
it worked well enough to distract most people for a while, and wasn’t revealed as a hoax until a year later, when an episode aired that definitively proved that the supposed screenshot could never have happened, at which point Alex owned up to the whole thing as seen in the tweet above. by then the episode with the real reveal wasn’t far off, and while people did still work it out ahead of time, it was more of an “OH MY GOD I KNEW IT!” moment than a “booooooring, we’ve known that for ages” moment, which of course was what the writers wanted all along.
personally I find this a fascinating approach to dealing with the problem of spoilers, because it doesn’t affect the story itself at all; if you watch Gravity Falls today–or if you were watching it when it aired without any significant contact with the fandom–you’d never know about it. ultimately, the problem the writers were facing wasn’t that some people might guess the answer to the mystery–they never wanted to make it completely impossible to predict–so much as it was that they hadn’t designed the story to stand up to so many people working on the puzzle together, which resulted in a sort of total output of puzzle-solving ability that far outstripped the capability of any one solo human being. so their solution is something that’s very much targeted toward delaying that group problem-solving, without actually affecting the experience of any individual person watching the show.
plus, it’s very in keeping with the overall tone of the show.
and now you know!
if your audience guesses the ending of your story
don’t:
change the ending
do:
gaslight them
big component of the wish fulfillment of KimHarry is that a dude who’s dangerously repressed after a lifetime of bullying and racist harassment gets to be with an actual mind reader who thinks he’s the coolest person on the planet and wants nothing more than to understand him intimately
The largest mass shooting in American history was a hate crime against gay people. Don’t ever forget that.
June 12, 2016. Putting a date on this for when it gets reblogged months from now by people who think the post is about something from 30, 40 years ago.
I am a survivor of the Pulse nightclub shooting, having grown up in Orlando and just turned 20 a month prior. If you didn’t know, there were several families who refused to claim the bodies of their relatives due to their sexuality. One family even had their relative’s name removed from the memorial. Murdered by the same hate with which their families reject them in both life and death.
Many, many people celebrated Pulse. We were told we deserved it. That it was God’s punishment for our sin of loving the same sex. We are sent messages like these I received in 2018:
We in the community often call the victim count 49+ to include the survivors who couldn’t live with the pain.
The event was never officially declared a hate crime or targeted homophobic attack and is rarely listed as one in databases.
At our vigils for those slaughtered, Extremist Christian groups showed up to protest, holding signs like this:
ID: Me kissing a woman I was casually seeing in front of an angry looking man with a “Sodomy is Sin” sign.
Please understand how much more than just a mass shooting this was. We are still to this day harassed and told we deserved it by some.
This year was the sixth anniversary. The first couple years I received dozens of messages checking in on me on 6/12. Year 5 got enough news coverage for people to think to reach out to me. This year it was my therapist, the woman I kissed in that photo, and a couple of other gun violence survivor friends. People are forgetting already.
With the 7 year anniversary <2 weeks away, I figured I’d reblog this

What.
who said that
The absolute funniest thing to me about autistic!Vox headcanons is that when I first saw them, I thought people were focusing too much on the sharks. Like, okay, he likes sharks. But if you’d asked me then, I’d have said he was one of the most obviously neurotypical characters in the show.
Then it occurred to me that standing on furniture is. Not really neurotypical behavior. So I went back with a fresh perspective and you know what, he definitely has a few quirks that stood out from the rest of the cast. Time to start looking for patterns.
Yeah, so turns out, he’s one of the most obviously neurodivergent characters in the show. And I have no explanation for how I drew exactly the opposite conclusion beyond my brain going, “this is all perfectly normal behavior and requires no further thought”. Except I myself am AuDHD, so if my brain is glossing over a character as “normal”, that’s. Probably an indicator that they’re not neurotypical. So.
Anyway, I have never seen a single post where anyone goes into any detail about his autistic traits, so I’m going to do that now! You’re welcome.
