Now that Lavanda de la Reina has been reformulated...
In real life, many perfume makers have believed their client wouldn't notice the reformulation of their perfumes. They have been wrong all the time.
People do notice.
It's not only about the smell, but also about the projection, sillage, and longevity.
The Lavanda de la Reina reformulation reflects this trend that has been killing perfumes since a long time ago. One example is the multiple reformulations that Thierry Mugler's Angel has suffered, especially after Mugler was bought by L'Oreal (a change that was a stab in the back for Angel's lovers)
But here is the thing: sometimes we stick to the perfume because it is still "Angel" (for example), even if the smell has changed.
I don't know if the Lavanda de la Reina reformulation will mean more trouble in the show (like a sells drop), but if it were the real world, the issue would be, at least, discussed in perfume lovers forums.
The Lavanda de la Reina reformulation was due to cutbacks, but that's not the only reason why a perfume can be reformulated. There's also:
- Change of animal based ingredients for synthetic ones resembling them. Why? I think it's obvious. I mean, ambergris came from sperm whale stomach... You may accept that in the 19th century...
- Switch from allergenic natural ingredients to synthetic ingredients resembling them but without the allergenic component.
The cutback reason sounds greedy, but the other two sound eco-friendly and immune system-friendly, which is good. But still, the perfume quality drops.
Vuela alto, Lavanda de la Reina.
Walked right up to this nice collection at El Rastro de Madrid, in La Latina neighbourhood.
POV 1: You take the Circular Line in the morning, coffee in hand, with hastened steps and determined to finally speak to the mystery woman on the metro with a certain fall of hair who does not leave your mind. Neither do her Jeans. You probably counted the hours. Even more so since she was not there at her regular spot yesterday. After finishing your coffee, you separate and recycle cup and lid with a fluid, practically automatic motion.
POV 2: You missed the usual metro connection in the morning (again, regretfully) where you were hoping to reencounter the most beautiful business shark on the face of the earth. (Marta. Her name is Marta. And that was her brother on Friday! Also how can her eyes be so Blue?) So you're trying to catch her after work at the station she boards every day except wednesdays. You wait sitting on the platform bench close to the exit, reading source material for your dissertation and looking up at each incoming train, scanning the crowd, hopeful and anxious to see Marta step off.
POV 1, later: You see the incredibly pretty mystery woman with the books across the train tracks on the platform where you usually would step off from work. Are you hallucinating? Very likely, though then she calls out to you and you tell her to wait before the incoming train prevents further immediate communication. In a rush to catch her on the other side lest she board the train, you practically leap up the stairs, nearly cause an accident and then another as you see her at the bottom of the escalator, smile widening. And those 100+ hours you counted have long been forgotten.

starting a collection for my anthropology class can you guys send me more posts like these
Here's a few I have
Everyone please read Body Ritual Among the Nacirema for the 1956 version of these posts:
"Professor Linton first brought the ritual of the Nacirema to the attention of anthropologists twenty years ago, but the culture of this people is still very poorly understood. They are a North American group living in the territory between the Canadian Cree, the Yaqui and Tarahumare of Mexico, and the Carib and Arawak of the Antilles. Little is known of their origin, although tradition states that they came from the east. According to Nacirema mythology, their nation was originated by a culture hero, Notgnihsaw, who is otherwise known for two great feats of strength—the throwing of a piece of wampum across the river Pa-To-Mac and the chopping down of a cherry tree in which the Spirit of Truth resided."

A fabulously well thought out historical AU. This version of Myka and Helena fit perfectly into the world the author has set them in, and the ending plays rent free in my head at least twice a month!
