Armand saves Daniel Molloy, famous best selling author/journalist from a freak car accident in the dead of winter. Rather than taking him to a hospital he's taken to a lovely, isolated home full of knick knacks.

Armand the "good nurse" coddles him and strokes his ego, going on constantly about Daniel's writing.

"I'm your biggest fan Mr Molloy!" Yada yada pompous bullshit.

Armand's sweet but daniel isn't stupid enough to not notice the flicker of apocalypse in his eyes. The twitch of his jaw like he's suppressing a snarl.

Daniel can't help but feel strange, he's been here before.. he feels as though he's been in this exact bed before, tied, abused, and loved back in his youth. His throat was filled with a drug stronger than coke, or any injection...what was it?

God he wishes he could get away. At Daniel's age it's not like he could run very far in the first place but now his legs are purple swelling lumps tied in gauze.

For now he's stuck with the good nurse Armand

I think in the chaos of today, it's important to also remember that Alex hosted this stream the same day one of his heroes; David Lynch, had passed away.

As Alex said, there would be no Twin Peaks with out David and in turn, no Gravity Falls.

And the thing is, Gravity Falls was hugely inspired by Twin Peaks. There's many nods to the show in GF from the Red Room, the town vibe, small scenes here and there, etc.

David Lynch even originally was asked to be the voice of Bill Cipher. He turned it down and Bill's voice that Alex does is more as he said it, a bad impersonation of David.

Alex even jokingly mentioned once he's make a season 3 of GF with David voicing a ceiling fan.

There was also the Peaks Twins in the Next Time On that were a clear play on Twin Peaks...

Also, he has a pretty close connection to Kyle Maclachlan, due to the fact he voices the bus driver in the finale.

Alex wanted him to be the one to take the twins home as he felt having Dale Cooper do so would be a fitting end to their story. He reached out to Kyle's managers who never got back to him. So, Alex wrote a personal letter to Kyle telling him how much Twin Peaks meant to him and that he'd love for him to do this cameo on Gravity Falls. Kyle instantly responded back and agreed to do it.

When I heard the news David passed, I instantly first checked on Alex cause I knew he'd take it pretty hard. I think in a way, David Lynch was for him what he is to so many of us Gravity Falls fans.

I'm gonna finish Twin Peaks now in his memory. I meant to do so for ages as I began watching it the same time I got into Gravity Falls but never finished. Now more than ever is the best time to get it done!

We get introduced to our protagonist, Daniel, who is your pretty typical heroic figure. He’s extremely smart (in med school), conventionally attractive, heterosexual & traditionally masculine, and his main character flaw is that he cares TOO MUCH about his patients to the point where having them die on him is challenging for him.

Then, we enter Herbert. He’s got all the markings of a queer-coded villain. Not traditionally masculine, anti-social from the jump, with extremely suspicious circumstances of why he’s in Arkham in the first place. He inserts himself into the narrative & Dan’s life by becoming his roommate when Dan doesn’t know about his experiments.

In a lot of media, this would be the setup— Dan would find out about Herbert’s experiments, find them morally wrong/maybe listen to his girlfriend, and work to stop Herbert. But Nope!! We come to find out Dan caring too much abt his patients runs far deeper than we previously thought- to the point where he’s willing to join in on Herbert’s reanimation experiments and commit like 15 felonies with him.
