not to romanticize everything about ormundaeron but when i remember the deleted script of otto talking about ormund's dad and how anyone under him becomes "thick of skin", i think that the way ormund educated daeron in comparison is quite interesting. sure he's abusive and violent but there's gentleness there and you can't say daeron is thick of skin. he's a sweet kid. ormund wanted him as such to have an obedient boy he can control but he also couldn't be too hard with the person he loves the most. it's never this or that with this man, i love him.
