I think I've voiced this opinion here before, but there is a benefit unique to watching a filmed adaptation of a book before reading said book, and that is that rather than being disappointed with the source material, you are glad that you get to expand your knowledge of the story and characters. This also allows you to appreciate both the source and adaptation for what they are respectively.

To all my fellow Christians out there with same sex attraction who still believe that sex is for marriage, and that marriage is between a man and a woman; just know that I love you. I can't wish you a Happy Pride, because we are not celebrating our sin, rather we are trying to resist temptation and live life in such a way that we are drawn closer to God, but I need you to know that I love you and that I understand you.
Our fellow Christians often don't have kind words for us, and the church has yet to understand our need for ministry and companionship, so the temptation to join in and wish one another a "Happy Pride" can be strong. After all, when the church often has nothing good or helpful to say to us, we want to lean in the other direction in order to encourage one another. Because sometimes it feels like its just us against both the church and the world. But instead of celebrating disordered love, let's celebrate God's perfect love. Even if other people find our attraction repulsive and mind-boggling, He loves us for who we are and He remember's our frame. He knows that we are only dust with an innate need to be loved by one another.
So lets love each other, as brothers and sisters in Christ. Let's encourage one another. Not just toward holiness, but toward hope and happiness. Let's gather together and enjoy each other's company, telling stories and jokes that only we can appreciate. Let's celebrate God's love for us, our love for God, and our love for each other. God bless.
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
Mary Oliver, βMaybe,β from House of Light (1990)
One particularly famous passage from the Bible is that of Jesus and the young rich ruler.Β It is there where we get the well-known verse of how difficult it is for a rich person to enter heaven.Β Coupled with the Bibleβs criticism of the treatment of the poor and the love of money, it has bred a disdain for the rich, and entitlement to their wealth.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β However, the Bible does not support such an attitude.Β Jesus was not even criticizing the manβs wealth in that passage.Β In fact, we can see the example Jesus set for us regarding our attitudes towards the rich: βJesus looked at him and loved him.β (Mark 10:21)
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Jesus loved him.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β And that is treated glibly.Β βYes, yes, Jesus loved him, He loves everyone.Β Now, money please!βΒ Do you treat people you love like that? Do you go up to your friends and demand them to give you things of theirs that you donβt have, or donβt have more of?Β Do you get upset with your friends for having more?Β If someone approached you with the same attitude and manner as you have towards rich people, and demanded you give them something of yours to make things fair in their eyes, would you be open to it or put off?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β If the latter, perhaps Jesusβs example is not being followed.Β Jesus stating that it was difficult for the rich to enter heaven was not a criticism of wealth but a lament for the rich.Β He was lamenting the difficulty.Β He was lamenting how many of them would not be with Him in glory.Β If we are out demanding them to be good and generous people -according to our own standards- are we reflecting that lament?Β Or lusting after material riches?Β Tearing down someone out of envy?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β The problem was not the manβs wealth.Β It was his heart.Β He had built for himself a treasure of material wealth, a comfortable lifestyle he could afford, and Jesus was not worth more than that.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β What would you leave behind for Jesus?Β More importantly, what would you put in your suitcase as you packed to follow Him?Β The moment we say βBut I need-β how are we better than the rich man?Β Do we think ourselves better because we arenβt considered rich by our cultureβs standards?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β βBut I need food, I need methods of communication, I need medical things, I need clothes-β Did not Jesus already address this?Β Does God not know your needs better than you?Β If Jesus called you to follow Him and leave everything behind, is there no trust that He will meet those needs?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β The disciples left everything, even their livelihood.Β Peter even reminds Jesus of this fact after the rich man leaves.Β If we want to consider ourselves on par with them, would we leave in the middle of our work day, on foot, with nothing on us but the clothes on our backs, if He called us?Β Or would we first return home to pack a bag?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Jesus loved the rich man.Β His command wasnβt a special command for the rich.Β It showed where the manβs heart was at.Β And it should reveal where we are.Β If there is something we would hold back or keep, we are more like the rich man.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Jesus loved the rich man.Β He did not hate or scorn him.Β He was not setting an income limit on heaven.Β He loved the rich man and wanted him to follow Him.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Do we want the same?Β Do we want the rich to get to heaven too, or are we rather focused on what they should be giving?Β Do we wish that they would desire Jesus just as much as us, or are we hoping that they become Christian so they might be convicted to get rid of their income?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β If we are not doing what we would have them do, do we love them or their wealth?
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β If our excuse is that we do not have as much as they, then perhaps we should reflect on how we are more closely related to the rich man then the disciples.Β Β For in Acts, we see the believers, regardless of their wealth, sharing everything that they had.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β If we have given up everything as the disciples, we should look to Paulβs caution: βAnd if I give away all my possessions to charity, and I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.β
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Jesus loved the rich man.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Do we?

Starring & Stylingπ My favorite Bratz movie
Can we stop with the character development. Where's my beach episode.
kids have no concept of anything. i walked into my kindergarten class and one kid asked me what my name was. when i said miss jones, he said βi like that name. did you know iβm in love with youβ
i asked my four year old cousin how old he thought i was going to be at my next birthday and he said 8. im 23
once i told a 6 year old that i had finished school and was doing βmore schoolβ [university] and she asked βwhy havenβt you found anyone to marry thenβ
We were at a museum and I was asking for the student discount and my nine year old cousin looks up at me with his eyes wide and says βwait youβre a STUDENT??β
I used to babysit these three kids and the eldest who was around 11 at the time was talking about how adults are boring and when I told him I was an adult he said, βThatβs not true, youβre my ageβ
our aunt teaches and she has this story about a little girl who really was always pretty quiet in class and then on the final day of kindergarten she just up and stated βiβm all teached now. i donβt need to be teached anymore. iβm done of being teached.β
once when i was 19, I told my little cousin that i was 19 and she looked up at me with huge eyes and went, βDoes that mean you donβt have to bring an adult with you to the pool?β
My 6 year old cousin saw me driving for the first time, looked up at him mom and said βdoes that mean she is married now?β
I watched my dad and my niece (3 at the time) arguing over a pair of pants and whether or not they were also a dress. My neiceβs argument was that they were, in fact, also a dress because they were blue.
I asked the kids in my daycare class what they thought I should be for Halloween and this little boy goes, βooh I know! A pickle! Youβd be such a good pickleβ
On the first day of class with my favorite student of all time, I said, βAre you okay? You look like you have a question.β And she looked me right in the eyes and said, tremulously,
βCan a piranha eat a stapler?β
One time I was working with a kid and he looked up at me and asked βDo you have a boy?β I had no idea what he was talking about, but I told him that I did not have any boys. He looked shocked and then deeply concerned and said βWell, you better hurry up and shave your arms so you can get married; August is next month!β
I was sitting on the floor with my 3yo niece and we were playing with her younger brotherβs alphabet blocks and the O had an octopus on it. Β So I picked it up and asked her what it was.
βOctopus,β she said, all curls and smiles.
βAnd what kind of animal is an octopus?β I asked. Β I was looking forΒ βfishβ orΒ βsea creatureβ but I would have accepted almost anythingββweird,βΒ βgross,β evenΒ βslimy.β Β βUnderwaterβ orΒ βit lives in the oceanβ would have also been acceptable.Β
She looks me right in the eye and says, happy as a clam,Β βItβs a cephalopod.β
I havenβt been the same since.
My favorite quirk of American English is that since we're constantly exaggerating, sometimes it's more intense to say something slightly less intense. Because like, it means you actually thought about it.
"you look great!" - normal. Anyone could say this. Could be true or could just be lying to be nice. Very normal expected thing to say to someone
"you look good." - gay as hell thing to say to someone.
You canβt mix Christianity with other religious beliefs.
βWhat about β¦ β
Let me know where I lost you:Β You canβt mix Christianity with other religious beliefs.
Iβm not saying Christians canβt coexist with other people.Β Iβm saying itβs not Christianity if you start mixing it with other religions.
