I'm Innocent I Swear

Arvek is the Crown Prince of Harlofelp, a kingdom with few worries and threats.  However, after his brother Selim is kidnapped by a healer living in the Veil Villages, Arvek is confronted with the cost of his father’s reign.  Just trying to get his brother back, he finds himself challenged with the question of continuing ignoring problems as his father, or defying his father’s expectations.

Kylin is a Ranger of the Veil Forest, sworn to maintain balance between nature and civilization- an oath made difficult by the Harlofelp soldiers in the Veil Villages.  Normalcy unravels as things hidden in the dark of the forest come to light and the seal on an ancient evil erodes.

Between the Veil and Crown 2 The story was getting really long, and had yet to reach its conclusion.  The first part came to a natural breaking point, and I had realized that there were many changes, and a lot more things that were thought through, as the story progressed. (Not surprising, I suppose, with a rough draft.) Part 2 is a continuation of the same story, but introduces itself kind of like a new book.  So it may come off as a little jarring, or clash with previously established facts.  Please understand it is just the author developing things as it comes.  The following links are chapters of Part 2.

One of his ex-girlfriends he claimed was just doing this for political reasons (she is a Republican working in D.C.) had provided to NYT mountains of evidence for her claims, and they skipped right over it. They said they couldn't corroborate her story.

They also claimed that other women were going to be named and coming forward, but that was only to get this ex-girlfriend talking.

And they made the rape allegation practically a footnote.

But no, the NYT isn't biased at all.

Meanwhile, Platner has lost backers and has allegedly stated he needs time to reflect, which may very well mean he's stepping out.

Then you find out about the Larry Nassar scandal, how he sexually abused hundreds of girls and was a doctor for female gymnast Olympians, and how when the president was allegedly told for the first time, there was an attempt to cover it up with an internal investigation, and the FBI sat on it. Then you find out that said president had a policy in place that if a complaint about a coach or staffer in USAG (USA Gymnastics) abusing the young female athletes came in but wasn't signed by the victim or victim's parent, it was was stuffed away in a file. And you might think that they were building a case against the alleged abuser, but the files were really just ignored. And none of it, even if the state by law required immediate reporting of suspected abuse of minors, was ever turned over to the authorities.

And then you hear about the Karolyis, who coached the USA female gymnastics teams for the Olympics for quite a while, and previously did so in Romania, and despite the fact that many of their former gymnasts from both countries accused them of abusive methods, they have maintained that they were good and fair.

Or at the very least, the Democrat party is hoping/anticipating he will.

A rape allegation surfaced that happened in 2021, which includes him breaking into the woman's house to commit it. Previously, Platner had been denying abuse allegations from previous girlfriends with claims of the allegations being false or politically motivated.

Apparently Politico is not with him on this allegation, though, and he left early during a Fourth of July celebration when the news broke and didn't show up for another celebration he was expected to be at.

He has to pull out by the 13th, voluntarily, or the Democrat party is stuck with him. He may still end up getting the vote, and honestly, I think it's a mark of how low the Democrat party has gone. I know not all Democrats support it, but if one is a Democrat, they really should take an honest look at what their party is supporting and ask themselves if this is really what they want to back.

Because, no. Some women are. But I don't want a leader in my marriage. And if a guy comes along looking for ways that he can be my future leader, I'm out.

I want someone who will see and treat me as equal. Someone who will not have issue with me "taking the lead" on the occasion, and I in turn can trust when he needs to- but it's situation dependent and not some role assigned to us.

I don't want some guy who will take a bullet for me, but believes "feminine" roles are beneath him.

I don't want to be with someone who holds the final say. I want someone who will hear me and work with me regarding our future.

I want someone I can be strength to when he is weak, and someone who feels he can be weak around me, just as much as he wants to be that for me.

I don't want someone who thinks he has spiritual responsibility for me, but I don't have any for him. I don't want someone who is going to put himself in a position where he must maintain something -whether authority or responsibility or whatever else- over me in way I cannot do for him, because it would be "too masculine" for me.

I don't want a leader. Not a hardcore leader, nor a softer "servant leader." Nor anything in between.

I want a partner. Someone who is more interested in serving me as I him, and not in leading me.
