If you’re wondering if there’s a fandom that could hate certain ships so much that they will completely misinterpret the entire story so badly that people start saying it’s “confusing” and “mistranslated” despite the fact that the entire problem is actually their media comprehension going out the window as soon as it starts to even slightly validate their least favorite ships, resulting in even the most basic plot points flying over a majority of the fandom’s head, again, ALL BECAUSE of shipping discourse, then look no further than the Cookie Run Kingdom fandom. This needs to be STUDIED. If anyone can think of another fandom this has happened to LET ME KNOW I’m so curious. Like there’s “shipping ruining fandoms” and then there’s “prematurely labeling ships Too Problematic To Ever Happen resulting in twisting the plot so badly to avoid validating said ships that at least half the fandom doesn’t even know what’s going on anymore despite the plot being quite simple to follow if you just accept that those ships aren’t inherently abusive”
