Sometimes I think I’m an attention seeker and I’m always looking for attention and then I’m like WAIT A SECOND! I freaking hate attention. I have had many horrifying lore reveals about my younger (slightly, mind you, we are the closest in age in my entire family) sister, but I would just like to point out the time she kept referencing some random nonsense thing and I had no idea what she was on about, it had something to do with AI and I was so lost, then timeskip a while longer she’s no longer constantly referencing it, but now I’m seeing things like “steal a brainrot” and I’m like oh my god. It was Tung Tung Tung Sahur. She was obsessed with Tung Tung Tung Sahur before it hit peak popularity. Why. What. Why.

I don’t like when people call fans getting obsessed with a completely random background yaoi ship with no relevance or substance or flavor at all instead of the actual main story the “spamtenna effect”. Like SURELY you can find an ACTUAL example of that phenomenon right??? Instead of two characters the creator said were deeply connected, one of which was already extremely popular long before we met the other one??? Like I’m POSITIVE you can find a more accurate fandom/ship to name this after.

#if you just want to describe ppl being obsessed with some yaoi instead of the main plot: this works!#but my issue is most people use it to specify that the yaoi is like. not even remotely canon or interesting and nobody cares about the #characters if not for the ship. which is just definitively not the case with spamtenna.#I feel like you could name a LOT of fandom phenomenons after spamtenna tbh. Every person that I know, that I have opened up about my schizophrenia to, has shared that they have had at least one psychotic experience in their life.

Whether that was that they have psychotic features as a part of their bipolar disorder, depression or PTSD. Or that they have seen a shadow of a person out of the corner of their eye, or a delusion that some entity is after them. Even if it was just a single instance of hearing a voice that wasn't real that stuck with them.

It seems like when I break the barrier of stigma and silence, people feel comfortable enough to share their own experiences and I love that.

Psychotic experiences are extremely common. Anecdotally, it seems that everyone has had at least one hallucination, delusion or instance of paranoia in their life. And I wish everyone was able to talk about these experiences, and how they've affected them without fear of shame or panic from the people around them. This is a normal thing that brains do for whatever reason. It shouldn't be seen as bad unless it negatively affects someone, and then you should listen with care and see if the person needs help in any way.

That's why acceptance for those of us with disorders like schizophrenia is so important. If you can hear a schizophrenic person out, and not treat us like we are dangerous or scary. See as equal human beings that happen to have these experiences. Only then will the pathway for everyone to share their experiences with psychosis be open and normalized.

I think it's fascinating that human brains can create experiences out of thin air. I think it's so cool that everyone can relate to me in even a small way. Imagine how many interesting conversations and connections we could all be having about this if we destigmatized psychosis and schizophrenia.

#shoutout my period of major sleep deprivation. funniest hallucination I ever had tbh.#I also get sleep paralysis (with hallucinations of course) occasionally does that count #I mean it’s a hallucination. so. ye. I guess that’s what we’re talking about.#I feel like my OCD can also somewhat relate to this. but idk.#(don’t take any of this as me saying any of these are the same as schizophrenia or whatever. read the post lol)
