Hello, everyone. To keep this brief and succinct, I currently know of many people being abused by a manager at work. This guy is a manipulative jerk and uses intimidation tactics, and is incredibly two-faced. I've recently learned of an incident directly involving someone I deeply care about and the abusive manager. The people and the manager I speak of work in library services and HR is biased in the manager's favor. It doesn't help that the manager is a skilled liar. This manager is also responsible for union-busting, as he insists to every new employee that the union involved with the library is unreliable and hostile until they believe him. This man runs the library like a business and has eliminated various crucial services typical of basically any other library in the US. I want to do something about it. I'm want to get involved and, as an outsider, voice displeasure and complaints but I don't want my loved ones and their friends to have their jobs at risk. I will be doing everything in my power to make sure that my hijinks affect their everyday work lives as little as possible and I want to avoid any kind of retaliatory actions. To my knowledge, the manager does not recognize me or would know my name, or my relationship to the employees. Most of the people that directly work under him also do not know me, but I know them, and I know they are good people. One thing I want to do is create a zine to hand out to the main branch to illustrate the signs of an abusive boss and the signs of a hostile workplace, and include information for recording conversations and how to safely document and keep a record of unprofessional and abusive behavior (we are in a one-party consent state). I don't necessarily just want to get this guy fired. I just want to do something to advocate for the workers and, at minimum, intimidate him back in line. I have learned he is also quite cowardly and spineless. Please reply, reblog, or DM me with any resources or personal experiences/advice that can help me as an outsider of the institution, as well as resources for the workers of the library to employ.
