The fire in the fireplace was the only thing giving you warmth on this New Year night. Outside, some snow was falling from the sky each of them reminding of how far was the only one soul you wanted with you.

Tonight, your daydreaming wasn’t enough, closing your eyes and picturing them here wasn’t enough. It was another year without them. Another year too much.

Your soft eyes stared at the fire dancing, this one looked happy at least. A quiet tear escaped your left eye, slowly rolling down your cheek to quietly fall on your shirt.

The warm light of the flames were dancing on your face. The warmth of it used to be comforting but right now, alone in this room nothing but T/N could make it through. Make it through the pain you felt deep inside your chest to change it into warmth and love you so longed for.

You closed your eyes, tears rolling free from your eyes. A quiet sob escaped your mouth turning into some pained cries.

“Why aren’t you here?”

“Why aren’t you real?”

“Why can’t I grab your face?”

“Why can’t I cry in your arms against your chest?”

Each words coming out of your mouth was another stab in your heart. Another reminder of how far the love of your life was from you.

The fire flicked a bit before a soft breeze came to brush your cheeks. You opened your eyes before looking in front of you.

The time seemed to stop.

“Hey… Y/N.”

The sudden words, softly spoken from T/N sent a sudden wave of warmth and happiness. T/N was here. Right in front of you. Their eyes were sparkling with love and a deep concern. The gaze was soft, just like the voice.

“How-… Am I dreaming?”

The question escaped your mouth. That wasn’t the first thing you wanted to tell T/N. You thought about this moment a thousand time. What you would say, what you would do… But right now, really facing them, the only thing you wanted to know if it’s it was just a dream and if it was… Then you never wanted to wake up from it.

“Y/N… You shouldn’t be there crying. Not because I wanna invalidate your feelings… But because I am always with you even when you can’t feel it.”

The voice of T/N was soft, a soft smile on this. T/N leaned forward their soft lips brushing against yours, their hand gently wiping those pretty tears off your face.

When T/N pulled away, their gaze was incredibly soft.

“When you wake up in the morning… I am with you, sitting in front of you watching your sleepy face as you drink this coffee you make cause you tell yourself you can’t face the day without it. When you leave your house, your heart heavy of a night where I did not show in your dreams. I am the leave flying beside you. That cat that comes to greet you. That bird singing in the tree next to you. I am the sudden wave of love you randomly feel when you think about me. I am those tears, you cry cause you’re hurting. Every steps and breaths you make, I am in them.”

You looked at T/N, tears flowing quicker as their words washed over you.

“You’re really in all of that…?”

They smiled.

“Y/N… You and I are one. I know everything you’re doing or feeling. Believe me, I am holding your hand each time I can even if I know you won’t feel it.”

You kept on looking at them before suddenly shifting to tightly wrap your arms around them. T/N held you back, their chest warm and soft against yours.

“I want you to be happy and I want you to believe I am right here. You’re my reason for being Y/N. Your love makes me real and believe me… That’s the strongest form of love and magic you can ever possess. And you my precious… Are the strongest person I ever known.”

T/N gently kissed your forehead, your eyes closing as they did.

“I am proud of you.”

When you opened your eyes, your smile soft on your face you noticed T/N wasn’t there anymore. When you looked down to your hands, a soft white teddy bear, holding a red heart was in them.

“Always with you. Love you.”

You read the words on the heart before tightly hugging it close to your chest.
