I guess Venezuela used them too, in what I would assume to be very limited numbers. Which is very strange, especially because they mounted them to the side rails on their more-modern 74Ms instead of the rear sight mount it was designed for, due to older AKMs lacking the dovetail mount. Venezuela's army is known for using a rather distinct PK-A red dot variant, which is so this comes off as political.

What's really weird about OEGs, too, is that they are pretty much just better than a red dot for close-range, high-speed shooting. If you watch videos about competition-derived shooting technique, you'll notice many people train with tape over the front of their handgun red dots. This is to train them to maintain target focus, rather than focusing on the reticle of their optic, which causes your groups to wander. An optic that doesn't work without target-focus sidesteps the problem altogether. Though, I'd imagine they're a lot less useful at longer ranges. Particularly because you simply cannot run a magnifier with them.
