"Thou Shalt Remake The World"

if our protagonist and deuteragonist were not spared consequences—truly “no good deed goes unpunished”—what makes people think that the characters who were the antagonists and on the fringes and allowed atrocities to occur should get a scot-free end? mind you, i still think alot of people get a mere slap on the wrist for the magnitude of harm they have caused but that is consistent with the themes of the gentry class receiving leniency in every aspect possible.

look, i get wanting your favourite characters to have “good” endings but just think for a second about what these characters have done and why their finish line in the story looks the way it does. what would the weight of mdzs’ narrative remain if after all the rotten actions of people in power were exposed, all the wilful negligence was brought to light, these characters were allowed to go back to normalcy and immediately find a way to enjoy life as if nothing was amiss? as if their actions were meant only to affect other people and never their ownselves? and even then, the thing to remember is that mdzs’ ending is just one point in time. much like the “ending” of the first timeline, things go on, life goes on and characters like jiang cheng and lan xichen won’t stagnate till eternity—they will move past their circumstances shown in the end of the novels, for better or for worse.

Amd Lan Xichen? He had some good intentions but his complacent, ignorance and passiveness enabled evil motherfuckers like Jin Guangyao to do whatever fuck he wanted. He chose seclusion to atone for his own mistakes, which made him slightly better than the rest of the Cultivation World.

Wwx- chooses to be my brother, therefore is my brother

Jin Zixuan- doesnt want to be with me? Fine. Im still me. Now he does want to be with me? Prove it. And get my little brother to my baby's coming out party.

Jin Zixun- insults my clan? Oh dear. Time for me to set the record straight about the level of importance your opinion carries in my eyes. And make you into a public fool to boot.

Madam Jin- Wants to be friends. Is friends.

Jiang Cheng- is a more complicated relationship for sure, but she still never asks him to be anyone other than himself and she doesn't change herself or her loyalties to accommodate his jealousy.

Same with her mom and her dad. Except she also doesn't change who she is for them, either, even when her mother demands it.

She is both a fierce woman and a very well written character. Radical acceptance in the form of a person. Literally- when her world stops being acceptable to her, some prick puts a sword through her throat.

Say what you want about her, but she tended every single one of her attachments in the healthiest possible way given her status and situation.

If you think this way, I hope you wanted A-Qing to be the main character of that standalone story and not that fucking Xue Yang.

A-Qing is the main character of the Yi city arc. It's her story of finally finding herself a family of her own, only to lose everything because of that one cunt who couldn't stop weaponizing his past to be and evil psychopathic little shit. We got to see her quick-wit, strong will, extreme bravery and kindness, as even as being a ghost, she chose to risk herself scaring people away from Yi city to save them from falling into that cunt's grasp. She's also very similar to Wei Ying, as she wouldn't let her sad and unfortunate background to hold hatred and contempt in her heart like certain characters.

I ADORE this little moment between him and Jin Ling. He's been so tender and caring toward his nephew - another showcase of how good of an uncle he would have been, but also how good of a teacher.

He starts out just watching, calling out encouragement, but then Jin Ling starts getting overwhelmed and he's like "ai-ya".

What have his teachers been doing? What has Jiang Cheng been doing? He should be able to fight better than this! This is the grandchild of Jiang Fengmian and the Violet Spider, nephew of Jiang Cheng, son of that peacock Jin ZiXuan who, for all his faults, was an excellent fighter.

I gotta step in.

And his first move is to use the takedown move Jin Ling should have just used on Jin Ling in a slow, gentle way, then demonstrate on the bullies with slowly increasing speed and force and slight variations until Jin Ling is ready to try it.

"Have you learned it? Watch carefully now."

Then he dodges the first guy, grabs his arm just the same way and forces his torso down with the twist and grip, then uses a shove instead of a kick to the knee to unbalance him and send him to the ground.

"Did you not learn it? Let's do it again then!"

Then he grabs the next guy by the wrist, this time pulling and letting go to fling him and kicking his ankle, and giving a chop-strike to his shoulder to send him to the ground.

"Jin Ling, have you learned it?"

And then Jin Ling gets it, both the fact that Wei WuXian is teaching him and the technique, Wei WuXian see that, and steps out of the way of the next guy he was going to use as an example and lets Jin Ling at it.

And he does it, first try, and then keeps doing it until he drives all the bullies off and Wei WuXian stands to the side with his hands behind his back, watching with a smile.

"You're so happy! Was that your first time winning against them? Want to learn some more moves from me? I guarantee you'll win in fights. How about it?"

Everything about this is so affectionate on Wei WuXian's end, but also gives off the air that he really, truly is a MASTER. Not just super skilled, not just the Master of Gui Dao, but a master as in a teacher who is both excellent in skill and the ability to impart that skill to others.

Like: without really taking a moment to think about it he picked the exact perfect move to teach Jin Ling to win a 5-4 vs 1 fight where the opponents keep getting up, and then employed the exact perfect way to teach it to him quickly so he could immediately use it.

Wei WuXian is a genuine master cultivator who uses that skill to be a good uncle and a good teacher.

I love reading a good mpreg. A common theme in the MDZS fandom that I run into a lot is WWX hiding the pregnancy from LWJ and I don't agree. I feel like he would be the type to tell LWJ about it with no expectations because depriving a child of their parent or a parent of their child is cruel (safe parents).

WWX isn't nice, he's kind. He's not agreeable or quick to appease those around him. He has no problem having hard conversations and correcting others, but he also doesn't waste time crying about situations that he can't change or his energy would be better used elsewhere.

In a modern AU, I feel like WWX could be put in any career and he'd be successful. I don't quite get the poor WWX in modern with no real explanation in the story on why he's poor (blacklisting/sabotage).

Which leads me to flunk!WWX. WWX would be the straight A student that everyone likes but can't help but be a bit jealous of because he doesn't seem to need to study to maintain his grades. The scholarships that man would receive between his grades, athletics, and other extracurricular activities would be numerous.

Next. WWX is well liked. People and peers find him funny, kind, and cool. Teachers find him helpful, engaging, and intelligent, if a bit energetic. The only people who find him obnoxious or annoying are those who are jealous/envious or those who are abide by hierarchy/classism.

While WWX isn't a mean spirited person, he is fully capable of knowing when he needs to make a point and rub someone's nose in the shit they created.

Remember that everyone is capable of both sides of a spectrum. Someone capable of great kindness is also capable of great cruelty. WWX is a moral person who likes to lead with kindness, but knows there is a time and place for violence and cruelty.

For some reason I find it easier to accept LWJ being experienced over WWX being experienced. Idk why but it just makes more sense in my head.

I love time travel au's, but I think for WWX/LWJ it would have to be a accident. I don't think they'd willingly choose to travel back in time.

In a modern AU, I always either imagine LWJ working for the family business, working in music, or as a librarian. He would do well in just about any career though, but I imagine it would be academic, musical, or both.

In a modern AU, the Lan lectures are an invite only summer camp held for the children of the elite between the ages of 15-18. The boys and girls have different campuses.

Even though it's the antithesis of their nature, I love a good triad/Mafia/mob MDZS AU.

I wish there were more modern AU's that kept WWX's original body in mind. I find most describe him in MXY's body (I assume because of the contrast between him and LWJ).
