Should you?
There's a hell of a lot of 'shoulds' flying around, half the time without us even realising it. I 'should' go to the gym, I 'should' eat more veggies, I 'should' have a white picket fence and be married with 2.3 children. And on it goes. It can be hard to stand tall and maintain your direction when you're standing there alone. It can be daunting to be the one whose path is different to everyone else around you. And undoubtedly, we could choose to listen to those 'shoulds'. It might feel temporarily more gratifying to fly under the radar or blend into the crowd. But your heart knows. Sometimes the journey isn't straightforward. Hell, sometimes we don't even know the direction we are heading in! But one thing I know for sure - I would rather take a chance on trying the things that whisper in my ear and ignite my soul than always wonder 'what if'. What's the worst that can happen? It doesn't work? I believe there are no mistakes. We are learning. Everything happens to help us on the next leg of our journey. It's what makes us who we are. Which means - hold your head up high. Listen to your heart and what it's telling you. If you are amidst turmoil and can't find the surface to take a breath, let alone listen to your heart, here are some wise words that someone once told me: 'Your body never lies. When you think about something, stop and see how it FEELS inside. It will tell you. If the body feels heavy and you're not too excited - that would be a 'not the path for me to walk down right now'. If the feeling is light, that's a yes'. Start at the start. It can be overwhelming, yes. But at the end of the day, you are responsible for making you happy. And who doesn't want to be happy? One person's happiness isn't the same as another. So let us not worry about what other people are doing with their lives and focus more on listening to what makes us feel good!
