°It must be light wherever you are More of a multi-Doctor fic really (not at once), but there's some fourteen at the end.

°I'm Alive A short trilogy for when you need something funny and sweet.
°Love is not an emotion, it's a promise Again, multiple Doctors, but mainly 13. The Doctor refers to River as their 'little goddess'.
°5 Times The Doctor Talked About River Song With Graham (+1 Time The Fam Finally Met Her) It's in the title really. Very emotional. (Not as in sad necessarily, there are simply a lot of emotions).
°i am the distance you put between all of the moments that we will be Very lovely fic. Angstier than I thought tbh. So definetly something for when you want pain and longing. Has a happy ending though.
°You Know Who You Are and Yes You're Gonna Break Down This one's fun. They flirt, they dance, the Doctor's being gay... a bit of angst towards the end, but it gets resolved rather swiftly.
Of Handcuffs and Custard Creams Pure hilarity for when you need something to laugh about.
°she's got a smile that heals me Fix it happiness with a dash of angst and yearning, very sweet.
understanding I'm not sure how to describe this one. It is not necessarily Yaz bashing, it's just a lot of unrequited love. Very nice for when you're feeling vindictive after having to guess on every second fic on whether or not they're going to have the Doctors and Rivers marriage be open to sprinkle in some thasmin.
12 x River:
she blows out of nowhere, roman candle of the wild Human Au. Twelve is stood up on a date and River saves him. Banter and love at first sight ensure.
The Playwright and his muse Human Au. Twelve is a playwright in victorian(?) England, River Melody becomes his muse. A beautiful trilogy.
*But she prefers two lumps of sugar and tea Human Au. Twelve is the most grumpy barista that the world has ever seen, River does not put up with it. He immediatly falls in love, yet continues to be an idiot.
°Are we dancing after death, you and I? River gave the Doctor her regeneration energy, he becomes downright addicted. Angst, yearning, sweetness.
°I use the stars to find you This is just fluff and sapiness and domesticity. Like a long, warm, comforting hug.
*And if I get burned, at least we were electrified Sweet, hot smut. Twelve grows a beard.
*The voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses River has a praise kink. Very hot, and more emotional than it sounds. (Again, emotional does not mean sad. It just means... emotional).

°*Where I've been It's been a while since I've read this one, but I remember that it was incredible, so there's that.
Worth living for River helps the Doctor heal after the time war. Very sweet, if I remember correctly.

All in Your Head There are three Doctors (+ companions) in the TARDIS at once. River decides to be a telepathic tease. Very, very funny.
°Glad We're Here This is one of the funniest fics I've ever read. There are two Doctors (technically three, but thirteen misses the main action) and two Rivers. Lot's of timey wimey shenanigans ensue. It is so funny.
°*There is a love I reminisce This fic is wonderful. It includes eleven and eight and mentions a lot of the Doctorriver encounters featured in the audioplays. I'll admit, the ending somewhat confuses me, but that's probably nothing that couldn't be fixed with a reread. Lots of timey-wimey stuff.

It really is hilarious because whenever you start your art journey, you watch all the videos and ask artists and they all give tips and help but it all ends up coming down to "you just have to practice".
And it pisses you off because bruh how am I supposed to practice this shit if I can't even do this first couple of fucking lines to make a good cylinder.
And then you start drawing and it sucks and you keep doing it, and you learn new skills and tricks, and you even end up developing an art style naturally (which they told you you would do, and you didn't believe them, but it came free with the constantly drawing in a way that made you comfortable and learning the medium).

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. Got a refusal or no response from your MP?
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if they’re already in Parliament. Even if they don’t, they’re made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations can’t provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, men’s rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If you’re a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from women’s bathrooms if you’re perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a ‘third space’ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).
A women’s only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of ‘lesbian’, and therefore no longer have legal protections if they’re discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).

The women in Frankenstein are more three-dimensional than the ones in Carmilla
I don't know if this is the same person or two separate people Big Mad that I like Carmilla and not Frankenstein (the novel) but uh
literary taste is subjective, bud or buds
I like critically panned books and generally-acknowledged masterpieces, by men and women, in any combination of those attributes. and I bet you do, too
because (with a few exceptions) liking or not liking a book, personally, is a morally neutral act that does not reflect your thoughts on its place in the broader literary canon unless you try to claim that your subjective taste is an objective definition of quality
I also want to challenge the idea that the women in Frankenstein are more three dimensional than in Carmilla, because… what? Caroline is barely a character - she exists to work herself to the bone sewing for her family’s supper, and then to die dramatically for the sake of Frankenstein family angst. Justine is even less of a character, considering her big role in the story is to die due to being the scapegoat for Victor’s crimes. Elizabeth is essentially an emotional support animal for Victor and his family, focusing on taking Caroline’s place in the household seamlessly after her death and providing the stability and comfort the men need in their grief. All her expressed hopes and dreams and wishes, in both versions of the story (for feminist reasons I am a revision stan over the 1818 edition) are about her place in the household and her ties to Victor.
Personally I think that’s part of the ways the book can be seen as making proto-feminist commentary! The women whose lives and labor and hearts allow Victor to have the leisure time and stability to pursue his experiments and his aristocratic lifestyle are footnotes to him. He considers them in relation to his life exclusively. One reason I thought del Toro’s film was so clever was because it takes this subtextual character flaw and draws it out in ways the audience (who have, particularly wrt the book, favored Victor immensely - he’s in many ways practically a Tumblr and Pinterest sexyman in the classic sense, particularly due to perceived homoeroticism with Henry, and this has blinded people to his shortcomings) can’t ignore. It showed that the women of the story existed outside of Victor’s mind, something the original text never directly said. Canonically, on the page, the women in Frankenstein are *really* not developed. That’s sort of the point.
The girls in Carmilla are the main characters of the story. The central protagonist and antagonist. Their relationships matter to the plot and their experiences are the reason there’s a narrative at all. What are we even doing here.
I love this because it highlights how many possible takes on this there are out there!

Apparently Eva Stratt at the end of the movie on the ship had a prison tattoo on her neck that meant something along the lines of "life without parole." So, parallel to Grace and Rocky's adventure, there was a whole subplot where Eva Stratt
- Was eventually trialed by governments of the world as a scapegoat and sent to prison
- She somehow BROKE out of said prison and currently commandeers a rogue paramilitary faction of Project Hail Mary loyalists who believe in her over world governments, who presumably are still hunting her down
- She currently is on the run and staying mobile on an ice breaker ship like some kind of james bond villain base (but you know, good) while STILL working on project hail mary the whole time
- Her rogue loyalist faction controlled enough resources they could go to space and collect the beetles Grace had sent. Alternatively, it was the world government that collected the beetles, and Stratt had a whole ass heist movie to steal them, which is why she had the little xenonite figure at the end of the movie. Either ways she was running circles around them.
