He did say that, but you are conviniently removing the context and rest of the text. He did said that he will always prefer the books because he wrote them, so he is biased. I think all authors would be biased in this situation. He also said that there are changes the show made that he loved, some that he didn't love as much. He mentioned that some changes the fans are obssssive about he don't mind at all. He finished by saying that at the end of the day, adaptation is a compromise and that overall he is proud of the show and in awe of the hard work the production team puts into bringing the show to life. I would say he was pretty positive towards the show, but that he would always prefer the books because those are his babies.
To be clear, he never said the show was bad, or that it was a bad adaptation.
