The other leg of the love triangle has terribly backed-up sinuses and can't taste anything and thus has no clue where they fall on the cilantro question. Eventually they get their sinuses fixed and taste cilantro, but it happens off screen and the audience doesn't ever find out which side they fall on, but every now and again characters make joke about their behavior being understandable now and everyone laughs and we have no clue why
