Want to know why I'm excited about the new Robin Hood?

I don't have a clue who the lead actors are. I've never seen the guy playing Robin or the woman playing Marian before, and I love that.

I like that the more well-known actors are kind of holding down the fort in other ways. Sean Bean and Connie Nielsen are both tried-and-true pros and they always look good in this genre.

It actually looks good in terms of setting. Yeah, there's obviously going to be some Assassin's Creed-style action in it, but it reminds me of what fantasy shows and films in the 2000s were aiming for (but couldn't quite reach). Obviously, LOTR is excluded from that as the golden standard.

Did I mention I've never seen Jack Patten or Lauren McQueen before? Or at least, not in anything that immediately comes to mind?

I am entirely too happy about that. I'm tired of looking at the same faces over and over again.

Some of the shots they showed in the trailer are beautiful, too.

These are all great points and I will add:

This show is clearly not aiming to go down the road of focusing on an origin story. The trailer makes it pretty clear that we'll get a bit of an origin, wrapped up with an inciting incident and character motivation, likely in the first episode. Which leads me to my next point.

WE GET TO BE IN THE FOREST. The more recent Robin Hood screen adaptations (thinking of both the 2010 and 2018 attempts) have lacked the forest. Robin Hood stories belong in the forest. It's an irreplaceable part of Robin Hood storytelling. There's so much luscious green in the trailer. I'm already enthralled.

Marian is the second main character! All of the elevator pitches and synopses and marketing have made it abundantly clear that this show is going to feature Robin and Marian's romance and relationship as a central through-line. I can't wait to see it. Um, also, I just have to mention that I'm a bit bug-eyed and excited that, based on the trailer, we are getting some more explicit romance?? Genuinely never-been-done-before, and this is my OTP across all centuries and mediums and versions. SO. I'm seated.
