i think dean and cas first hooked up after getting kicked out of the strip club in 5.03 free to be you and me, and then spent the rest of s5 fucking just offscreen. nothing but mutual pining in s6, except for one last desperate “slow dancing in a burning room” moment in tmwwbk that gets broken up by bobby with a shotgun before it can really go anywhere. after that it’s years of pining, and a bunch of moments where one of them almost makes a move, until 12.19 the future where, after a season of being back in each others orbit, they DO have sex for the first time in like 7 years. and then cas steals the colt from under dean’s pillow and leaves and dies, and they don’t fuck again until after dean breaks cas out of the empty post-s15. cas did kiss dean right before the empty took him, though :)
