Little bit obsessed with the casual way Cas is drinking his coffee while Sam and Dean run past on their Hijinks Of The Day and Dean skids to a stop because he Knows that Cas is there.

(*leans close to the microphone* profound. bond.)

sam looks like he wants to start teasing dean immediately, but bobby throws him a look and he shuts up. clearly dean is very nervous, can't even look at them as he says it, fiddling with his knife and already blushing. so instead of teasing, bobby carefully asks him (like he's dealing with a skittish animal) "what's their name, kid?"

and after a while dean finally looks up and stammers roughly "um cas... his name is castiel." for a moment they're all quiet, the atmosphere in the kitchen uncomfortably tense, dean's shoulders raised, but then sam blurts out: "what kind of name is castiel? is he like a biblical angel or what?"

and immediately bobby can see the weight lift from dean's shoulders as he starts to loudly argue with sam about how samuel is a fucking stupid name too and cas's parents are just a bit religious and he should shut his giant, stupid cake hole.

later that night when they say goodbye and leave, bobby can see a new pep in dean's step when he walks to his car and he's so relieved all of a sudden he has to sit down.
