Whatever you do, don't picture Waverly holding Nicole's limp hand and staring at her motionless face. And Jeremy moving to place his hand placatingly upon her shoulder and saying, "She's going to be okay." Only to have her knock it away and with her voice breaking says, "DON'T! Don't touch me. You don't get to touch me." Never once taking her eyes off of Nicole's face. She can barely breathe. How could this have happened. Her heart clenches as she stares at Nicole, longing to reach out and touch her, to hold her. She feels like she's about to be sick. There's a hole burrowing into her chest and there's nothing she can do to fix it, but wait and hope that this works. She's so scared. Everything that could go wrong is playing through her head. She doesn't think she's ever been this scared.
And whatever you do, definitely DO NOT picture Rachel busting into Shorty's, the doors slamming open, and her eyes scanning the bar frantically. Her eyes falling onto Nicole's lifeless form and her face crumpling as she cries out, "What did you do?" Then she rushes forward to end whatever they've done only to be held at bay by Nedley as she screams, "Pull her out. Get her out of there. What are you doing." She struggles against Nedley trying desperately to reach Nicole, but her legs give out and Nedley cradles her as she cries. Waverly hears Rachel's sobs and gathers the strength to release Nicole's hand. She gathers Rachel into her arms and they sit there as Rachel cries. All the while Waverly assuring her that Nicole will be fine, hoping that her words will prove to be true.
And please, don't picture Rachel calming down enough to stand and walk to Nicole's side. Demanding that they tell her everything. Tears silently rolling down her cheeks as they explain. She shakes her head and mutters, "You idiot, what did you do to yourself?" Waverly steps forward and grasps Rachel's hand, squeezing it tightly and once again muttering, "She'll be okay, she's a fighter." Only to have Rachel replay angrily, "Don't you think I know that? Doesn't change the fact that she's dead." Jeremy stepping forward to assuage her worries saying, "We're going to being her back, you don't need to worry. Everything will be fi-" He never finishes his sentence. Rachel tears her hand out of Waverly's and punches Jeremy in the face, then growls at him with tears silently slipping down her cheeks, "If you can't fix this. If you've killed her too, then I will kill you myself."
And I beg of you, don't picture Wynonna strolling into Shorty's, followed by Doc and Rosita, talking about needing a whiskey and stopping suddenly at the sight before her. "What's this? Nicole get a little too hot to handle after you busted out the bondage, Baby Girl? Had to throw her in an ice bath huh?" No one laughs and the tears dripping from Rachel's chin and Waverly's broken expression tells her that something is wrong. Her eyes fall once again to Nicole and she notices how still the redhead is. Brown unseeing eyes staring straight ahead. Wynonna whimpers brokenly and Doc catches her as she starts to fall. Oh, god no. Please no. Not her. Not her best friend. Please.
Whatever you do, don't picture any of that.
