GlassPrism: But yeah going back to consistency - I will always be for the new and novel but I also get it, because you don't want audience members to, say, visit the US tour and then see snippets of the World Tour and feel like they missed out, ya know? @GlassPrism: And that was what Broadway did - it was very consistently the same, and it meant that it generally gave good performances, vs. the West End which had some high highs and some real lows lol

Gary Mauer & Jennifer Hope Wills, POTO Broadway 2007

Today (June 23), I’m going to be making an in-person complaint to the NYC Department of Labor and the DCWP. In the meantime, though, I’m still struggling pretty badly (this has triggered so many overdraft issues that this is threatening to eat most of the paycheck when he does bother to pay us plus the one from my second job). I’m going to talk about swapping so my second job can become my primary position, but in the meantime, please keep this rotating and share anything you can. I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to do.

Since this is primarily a Muppet blog, I wanted to take a moment to talk about Richard Hunt.

Richard Hunt was a gay man and a fantastic puppeteer who started working with Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson, and company in 1970 at age eighteen and joined the cast of Sesame Street two years later. While working with the Muppets, he originated the characters of Scooter, Beaker, Statler, Sweetums, and Wayne, but also became the primary performer of Janice and is responsible for the flower child personality she is now known for. He was also known to be a fantastic singer.

But maybe most importantly, he made so many people happy. According the book "Of Muppets and Men" by Christopher Finch, Hunt "seems to get more unadulterated pleasure from performing than anyone else in the organization. When he is not working on camera, he is apt to have Scooter or Beaker or Janice -- anyone -- on his arm for the purpose of entertaining... He makes the crew laugh, jokes with the guest star, clowns for the shop personnel. He is one of the chief reasons for the loose atmosphere that exists around Studio D despite the pressure and the slow pace that are endemic to television production."

Hunt died at age 41 due to AIDS complications. The Muppet Workshop made a panel for the NAMES Project AIDS quilt in his honor. The Richard Hunt Spirit Award is presented every year at the Sesame Street wrap party to the cast member that best honors Hunt's generosity and dedication on set.

I have a second job now, and at this rate am planning on swapping the scheduling so that that can be perhaps my primary job, but I’m still dealing with knock-on effects from the last paycheck at this one being late, and now this is turning into an ouroborous that’s probably going to eat the pay from the second job when it drops too.

My scheduling manager at the second job is back in office this Monday and I’m going to ask if I can start training to take on another route so I can maybe make that my primary job instead, but I’m also going to try to seek legal recourse for this because enough is goddamn enough.

In the meantime, if there’s anything you can drop in my Venmo or PayPal, it’d be very appreciated and paid forward when things aren’t so dire 💜 I’m trying my best to dig out of this hole but it’s difficult when you don’t even get paid for being employed.

So, I've just continued to apply for jobs. I've filled out at least 10 more applications in the last few days. I've submitted well over a hundred in the past 6 months with little to no movement. Having zero income is more stressful than I can possibly express. The only reason I am not still living in my van is because I met a landlord with several properties who is one of the most altruistic people I've ever met, and has been letting me stay in a unit that is allocated to be remodeled. I am very lucky to say that he is a close friend now, and without him, I'd be SOL.

I'm tired all of the time. The act of having to put myself out there on a daily basis and get rejected time and time and time again is extremely disheartening. The plight of living in a small town to be close to my daughter until I can fight for custody, which I just will not be in a place to do until I have an income. It's all tied together, and just none of it is moving.

I don't have many friends anymore. I don't have people I hang out with on a regular basis, or really ever. I have two people I talk to on a daily basis; my sister and my daughter. No one checks in on me, no one offers to visit, no one calls. It's overwhelmingly lonely.

It's a Saturday, the weather is beautiful, but my gas tank is on empty and my tire is flat, so it looks like another day rotting in the apartment. Which I am, again, very thankful for, but I'm nomadic by nature. I need to be to out experiencing new things and places, or I stagnate. My weight is out of control at this point, because I'm so freaking depressed that some days it's hard to move. Some days it's hard to breathe. Some days it's he's to just be awake.
