First of all: hii, how are you? đ
Second: help! What is peace/bite of heaven?
Hiii <3 I'm well, enjoying my holiday :D Hope you're well!
Also I was referring to 'Raj u ustima' (bad translation on my part sorry) but that might be super specifically named in our region/village??? It's pita sa jabukama, in filo, with honey and nuts (we usually make it with chopped chestnuts and almonds) :D hope that helped! đ
Like this, kind of???!?
is there a regional dish specific to the region you live in or grew up in that you particularly like?

Minific prompt! I'd love to have a Zutara story with "Q. One missed call." (Or I guess if you want to go canon, a missed message)
Authorâs notes!
1. Thank you for prompting. đĽ°đ Itâs a pleasure to try and give a little bit back to you!
2. Speaking of. Is this ambiguously-set ficlet perhaps possibly set in Baker!Zuko universe? I plead the Fifth.
3. Another one that I set a timer for, so once more please excuse if the ending arrives with the jarring suddenness of a YouTube advert.
***
As Katara paged to the beginning of her notes with the intention of going through the sections she still felt shaky in one more time, she flipped over her phone and took a glance at the screen almost without thinking.
The top notification dumped ice water into her veins.
With a shaky hand, she ripped out her earphones without bothering to stop the music, desperately needing to cut out all distractions as her brain tried to process what she was seeing. She unlocked her phone and pressed the notification like it was a big, red button that would end the whole world, not just her little pocket of the universe sheâd created. Blowing up the information across her screen did nothing to help and everything to make the lump in her throat threaten to make her eyes tear up, and the soft clatter of Zuko sweeping the kitchen was the only catalyst she needed to leap off the couch, briefly fight with the blanket before casting it aside in merciless victory, and march to the brighter light and warm smells and the person who she hoped would help make this all feel better.
âOh, hey.â Zuko glanced at the slowcooker. âI thought youâd be a little longer, so I donât think the â whatâs wrong?â
Clenching her jaw tight to keep herself together, Katara held up her phone toward him so he could read the screen. Zuko squinted at it and took a few hesitant steps forward, the furrow between his eyes deepening until understanding caused his eyebrow to shoot up instead.
âOh. Wow. I thought they said theyâd only call next wââ He glanced at Kataraâs face again and winced at the expression he saw there. âDo you think... They wonât retract any offers just âcause you missed one call, right? That wouldnât be professional. Nobody can be at their phones the whole day.â
Mini fic prompts: C, H, and/or U, at least one Zutara, but make them whatever fandom you like!
Authorâs notes!
1. Thank you for sending this in. đ So sorry it took so long.
2. I went with C: âA momentâs respite.â
3. Yes, life has been a wild ride this past month, but the other reason this took so long was because I got all up in my head about it. To finally get out of the mind spiral, I made this a timed writing exercise. Ergo, if it seems rushed, particularly at the end, itâs because the timer was screaming at me.
4. This is dedicated to @janadoesstuffwrong. Their fic lovely bitter water, and my offhand comment to them about what a healing session might look like post-canon, has lived rent-free in my mind for weeeeks. This ficletâs description of how Katara âseesâ Zukoâs scar is stolen straight from lovely bitter water.
5. Canât promise anything, but the mini fic prompt list is here for anybody else interested in requesting a fic.

It filled Katara with equal amounts of admiration, amusement, and deep frustration how Zuko could hide himself away in the Fire Nation palace. After seven years, the buildings that had once seemed gaping and stark and even sinister to her were now traversed easily even in half-light or half-asleep states, and yet even her familiarity with it all didnât make it easy to find her husband when he didnât want to be found.
âMaster Katara! So glad I ran into you. I need to speak to you about the decision to increase funding to Earth Kingdom hospitals above funding to Fire Nation schools. I understand it was not taken lightly, but I must stress...â
As she put her Politely Interested smile in place, leaning subtly against the door to the room Zuko had made his second secret study, Katara switched off the conversation that sheâd heard a hundred times already so that she could try to think where Zuko was most likely to be. The irritation simmered, but was easy to soothe with logic and love â she could not fault him from wanting to hide in order to avoid encounters that were usually at least as tedious as the one she was currently toiling through, but that could easily be far worse.
What she was finding it easy to fault him for was his decision not to tell her where he was hiding so that she could join him.
Another fifteen minutes, and she was able to politely but firmly escape, and she made sure to march around looking like she had great purpose and was in a great hurry to deter any other people from snagging her as she continued her search. The library was empty, as was the storage room beyond the kitchens, but Mimi the cook wisely suggested that Katara try the chashitsu.
Mark your calendars for Zutara Week 2026! The big event will be held from August 9 - August 15!
Thank you @fabdante for offering their art for this year's event graphics!

A Likeness
by W.S. Merwin
Almost to your birthday and as I am getting dressed alone in the house a button comes off and once I find a needle with an eye big enough for me to thread it and at last have sewed the button on I open an old picture of you who always did such things by magic one photograph found after you died of you at twenty beautiful in a way I would never see for that was nine years before I was born but the picture has faded suddenly spots have marred maybe it is past repair I have only what I remember
Could you personally navigate a cross-country road trip, door to door, without your electronics (phone/computer/tablet/etc)?
Yes
No
every other note on this post is someone going "am i allowed to use paper maps?" yes. obviously. i did not say "without a map", i said without your electronics. And to the like, 20% of people saying "of course, i would simply take the train" that is definitionally not a road trip. i love trains too, but that is a rail trip. a road trip requires taking a trip on the road.
#a train can go on the road if you believe hard enough

Not now kitten, mommy needs to overanalyze a 20 year old Nickelodeon cartoon where the characters wear color-coded clothing.
Thinking about these two scenes in the same thoughts:
Maybe add in the scene where he faces Ozai and actually redirects the lightning after confronting his father for the time he didn't hold back before. Something, something, Zuko meta.

Thesis statement: The popularity of "found family" is a great thing, especially as it celebrates the importance of non-biological, non-romantic relationships. However, an overemphasis on this relationship model can lead us to undervaluing philia in favor of storge, in much the same way that an overemphasis on shipping can lead to undervaluing philia in favor of eros. It can also lead to an erasure of the differences between philia and storge, treating these two types of love as interchangeable instead of celebrating the distinctive aspects of each.
...Yeah, this could definitely be an Entire Literal Essay, actually. This is...not the short version, but it is the shortest I can manage.
So my main thought is that Friendship is the hardest form of love for our culture to see as distinct and important in its own right, and âfound familyâ often (though not always) ends up as a sort of...middle ground between that point and the âOnly Romance Is Importantâ idea. In a ship-dominated culture, Friendship is often reduced to Level 1 Romance, andâat least in some waysâa found-family-dominated fandom culture can end up reducing Friendship to Level 1 Family.
In practice, I think that....even when we know that we donât see or want to see an important relationship as Romantic, a lot of us still struggle with the idea of Friendship by itself being equally valuable or important. So we equate âfamilialâ with âimportantâ (because family is undeniably as important as romance, right? Or at least itâs a lot easier to make that caseâand also, there is the not-at-all-insignificant benefit that it marks your view of a relationship as CLEARLY platonic!), and then we try to fit every relationship we love into a clearly-labeled Family-Shaped Box, in order to affirm its importance and give it legitimacy that âjust friendshipâ might not.
...which is, ironically, what shippers are sometimes doing when they seem to be putting every relationship they love into a Romance-Shaped Box for the same reason. Thatâs the highest-status box there is! Donât you think this relationship deserves the highest Relationship Rank??
But Friendshipâphilia, using the Greek word (or at least using it as C. S. Lewis uses itâisnât a weaker form or âfirst stageâ of other loves. Itâs its own form of love. Not lesser, but different. And if we keep following our instinct to âlegitimizeâ it by conflating it with family/storge, we end up doing both kinds of love a disservice.
(And I am definitely including myself in the group of people with this instinct! Thereâs a fandom Iâve gotten into recently thatâas not infrequently happensâhas a central relationship you could easily consider âfather-son,â âbest friends,â or a mixture of the two, and thereâs variance within the fandom. I personally view this relationship pretty much purely as âbest friendsâ in my own interpretation, but...a few years ago, I would have been much closer to the âfather-sonâ camp. And even though Iâve consciously changed my approach to character relationships over those last few yearsâmainly due to a variety of other fandom exposures over the past few years, and the pro-friendship opinions Iâve formulated while thinking about themâI still have some of those pro-familial instincts I entered fandom with! Theyâre very much what I came here with, and even though I now like other approaches better, theyâre still in my brain.)
The disservice to philia comes in the fact that we are still not celebrating it as a non-romantic, non-familial form of love in its own rightâwhich stinks, because itâs great!! and important to humans!! and we should all appreciate how wonderful Friendship is without feeling like we have to turn it onto another kind of relationship once it passes some Importance Threshold. Itâs also a less-important disservice to specific fictional relationships that we try to fit into a Family Box and maybe end up misrepresenting or oversimplifying in the process.
The disservice to storge comes in the fact that, with the label of âFamilyâ so highly valued in itself, it tends to get overused and slapped on everything until itâs started to lose all distinctively familial meaning. It becomes harder for us to explore the depths and beauties of distinctively familial love when weâve lost the verbal distinction between ârelationships founded upon specifically familial roles, a strong shared background, and/or an unchosen yet unbreakable connectionâ (which is how I would identify storge relationships just off the top of my head) and the âfound familyâ definition of âany group of people who love each other not-exclusively-romantically and arenât related.â
Personally, I kinda miss alternative labels like TVTropesâ âTrue Companionsâ or âPlatonic Life Partners.â Characters donât need to be spouses or siblings to be important to each other. They can be solely and purelyâthough not âjust!ââfriends.
and one last thing about zutara! iâve recently made a post where i jokingly commend zuko for supporting kataraâs murderous intentions in the southern raiders. but i want to push back on something many antis say, which is that zutara functions as some kind of âdark romanceâ ship where the two âmake each other worseâ and the usual spiel. the claim that zuko is a traditional âbad boyâ in opposition to âgood girlâ katara has already been disproven a million times, but to dig deeper:
the charm of most straight dark romances is the lack of morality displayed by the male half of the couple. this appeals to people because a protagonist with no moral limit is willing to commit any type of crimes to protect or avenge his love interest. âiâll burn the world down for youâ is the most common dark romance trope. in that type of stories, the woman often functions as a moral compass and she ends up either fixing the man or being corrupted herself. while sheâs inherently good, she does not have strong convictions. when the man changes, it is because he loves her, not because sheâs successfully redeemed him and changed his views.
zuko and katara can never fit that archetype because zuko and katara have strong, unmovable, righteous morals. even as a villain, there are lines zuko refuses to cross. times and times again, heâs moved to act out of compassion and empathy. not for a woman, not for the Uncle heâs devoted to, but for people and creatures he barely knows. kindness is inherent to him. heâs more than willing to leave mai, the girl he canonically loves, to become a part of the anti-imperialist resistance because his conscience allows him no other path. even in a world where zutara happens, zukoâs redemption would not be kickstarted by his romantic love for katara.
zuko would not âburn the world downâ for katara because zuko would not love a woman that asks that of him, and katara would not love a man that would. their sense of justice, their kindness and their willingness to do what is right even when itâs impossibly hard is what would ultimately draw them together.
