thinking about a lake i hiked to last year that was so small and cute. i jumped in to cool off and swam out to the middle, then looked down and saw trunks of entire dead trees dozens of feet below me and this is how i learned this particular lake is 100ft deep despite looking like a pond
my immediate first thoughts were 1) damn im glad im a strong swimmer because this is a lake that eats people who can't swim and 2) i thought i had gotten past my fear of open water until right now

ospreys only eat fish, that's why they don't register this starling as possible food
the starling got home safely
the starling was not trying to eat the eggs, it was mostly curious and you can see it trying to hop under the osprey every time the osprey tries to sit down again--this is because the starling is still a baby and has the instinct to get under an adult for warmth, even though it mostly has its feathers. this scares the osprey because that is a Foreign Creature near its eggs.
at the end of the video you can see the ospreys starting to turn the eggs. birds do this so the yolk and/or embryo don't stick to the shell of the egg, which is bad for the egg's health.
ospreys have eyes adapted to seeing beneath the surface of the water!

While restoring cut banter during A Murder of Crows (here and here), I found out that the wrong flag was set for that quest. And if you chose Save Caterina in the mental prison, you won't hear the lines related to that choice. By default, the game thinks as if you chose Punish Illario, even though the lines are actually supposed to differ

As someone with some disabling conditions that took a sharp turn for the worse in the last year or so, I've had to get comfortable with making my disabilities visible and using mobility aids in public now and then.
So you better believe I squealed with joy when I saw a Gray Warden with a cane at the forward camp for the dragon fight.

And then I started paying more attention, and cane users are everywhere!

This dwarf in the Shadow Dragon safe house also has a cane!
(It's unclear if they're actually a Shadow Dragon, or just being sheltered in the safe house.)
And today I spotted some even more heavily armored veil jumpers with canes, as their base leveled up. They are absolutely going places, and those canes are going to help.
Cane users tend to show up in pairs, which makes me wonder if there is a set mocap duo that they mostly place everywhere.
But I love that Bioware went through the effort of making sure there were cane users in every setting.
I am confident that I will find some in Treviso and among the Crows next time I am there, beyond Catarina herself.
I visited (blighted) Treviso and found some more, as I hoped!
Here are some still very feisty looking Crows with canes (probably throwing shade at Lucanis). I'm pretty sure they can still assassinate me. I'll be careful.

I wonder if non-blighted Treviso has more cane users, as a lot changed with the blight. I'll have to keep my eye out during my next play!
