disclosing that i know what yaoi is has done more for building rapport with my patients than anything freud could have ever comprehended
yes teenage girls can be dramatic and wild but honestly have u ever even seen what happens when u tell a grown man ‘no’
Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.
Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.
I want you to understand this. I NEED you to understand this. My mother read me the hobbit as bedtime story, and I started pushing myself to read before pre-school so I could in fact read the hobbit for myself instead of having to wait for bedtime.
I didn't do so right away but jesus wept I PUSHED myself to learn to read SPECIFICALLY so I could read The Hobbit! It is, in fact, a children's story! And children only see page count as 'there is a lot of this fun story to read!'

“my father is a boy and my mother is a girl so i’m mixed” is the funniest possible response to someone asking your gender and it came from 6’5 Viking footballer and notable weird little guy Erling Haaland on a Snapchat
comedians can only dream of writing something this funny
Happy New Year everyone I was looking at Memory Alpha this morning and I'm a little concerned
From a non-vulcan perspective, the Jim/Spock relationship is much like Gomez and Morticia Addams. From a Vulcan perspective, their relationship is more like Jessica and Roger Rabbit.
sansa and arya are not the villains of each other’s stories, sansa and arya are a reminder that there are no winners in a world that hates women and girls on principle. sansa conforms to the patriarchy and they hate her. arya rebels against the patriarchy and they hate her. sansa embodies the ideal westerosi highborn woman, so she is labeled as “stupid” and too naive for the real world. arya refuses to perform westeros’s narrow definition of femininity, so she is labeled as “willful” and unfit for highborn society. sansa and arya perceive their own gender identities in relation to each other, identities that are built on not being like the other - sansa is “the good girl, the obedient girl” and arya is the “wicked” girl. on one hand, sansa gains a false sense of security from not being like arya, believing that following strict gender norms will keep her safe (it doesn’t), and even if she slips up and is “bad”…well she might hate herself for it, but at least she’s not as bad as arya! on the other hand, arya believes that anything “traditionally feminine” is reserved for girls like sansa and is off-limits for her, that she is inherently less than and wrong and ugly because she is not like sansa. both sisters have been raised to compete for approval, for the status of being “real” girls, they are not allowed to coexist because there is only one way to be a highborn woman in westeros. nobody wins, they both lose their wolves, they both lose their home, their family, each other. and what are they punished for? the crime of being little girls.

Cosplayers at a Star Trek Convention, 1976
in this house we have endless respect for cosplayers from the days before VCRs.
You couldn’t just rewatch the episode to look at all the details of the costume. You got lucky with press photos showing up in magazines or you just watched the episode/movie while sketching furiously
thinking about that one woman who made a Star Wars flight suit in 1977 entirely from trading cards and sketching details in the theater. or stories I’ve heard about old school Trek cosplayers getting the bizarre seam placements right by photocopying magazines onto overhead transparencies and projecting them onto butcher paper.
I’m a semi old school cosplayer (started in 2001) so some of the old school techniques are still things I learned on (I’ve sketched from stuttering VHS tapes on pause and used the overhead transparency trick)… what we have access to now for costume recreation blows what they had out of the water just in terms of reference material, let alone specialty costume supplies like thermoplastics and cosplay wigs.
That Star Wars fan who made the flight suit from trading cards and movie sketches is TJ Burnside and she is still with us. In fact, I am adding to her Fanlore page with info about the flight suit (and how it went viral on Twitter and Redditt a few years back). Fanlore.org, is a fan run fandom history wiki. Stay tuned.
Her (sadly) barebones Fanlore page is here: https://fanlore.org/wiki/T.J._Burnside
The flight suit in question:
This is all incredible and innovative stuff, but this is also imperative:
