For the past few years my mom wasn't really...herself? We had her evaluated for dementia but her doctors said she didn't have that. But in my opinion, I haven't had a real deep conversation with my mom in quite a while. This past year she had cancer and specifically the past few months she really was not all there. Now she's not doing well. It's such a weird feeling to know she'll be gone soon, but also has been gone for...a while.

Im going back to new york in the morning. The dr said my mom isnt strong enough to do her immunotherapy so unless she happens to perk up over night, this is it. She wont recover.

This past week my mom has been much better but yesterday I called her and she wasn’t making much sense and she does this thing where she picks at her teeth like they’re bothering her. I think it’s from her cancer (which effects her central nervous system so makes her brain think things) but when I asked her if they were bothering her or to stop she couldn’t really answer me.

Saturday she got a chemo infusion in NY.

This weekend I was supposed to visit my nieces for the first time in 9 months and my parents might still be staying with my sister still so we won’t be able to visit. Disappointing.

Mom had her T cell collection and afterwards was finally able to receive steroids and her new chemo.

After steroids she was like a whole new person. Chipper. Memory much better. Awake and smiling.

This is obviously great but fingers crossed her chemo and radiation work. And that her body accepts her new cells in a few weeks.

Even though she’s doing better it’s hard to feel happy and hopeful. The past few months have been terrible.

My Dad was able to go to my niece’s grandparents day at her school today. Both of my parents were supposed to go but obviously thats not possible. My mom had a catheter put in today (and a lumbar puncture yesterday) and with all the sedatives she’s completely out. The plus side of that is that Dad gets to go to this event. 🎉 He’s been at her bedside for weeks now so it’s good to do something fun.
