OCism is also killing good writings. Because writers are creating characters first before having themes and goals. That's why your story sucked.

You have a character sheet and all sorts of details but you can't write a plot to save your life. Your pacing is dogshit.

#ngl agreed #obviously a lot of people have characters they talk about specifically from a story they're working on #but the Architypical OC is basically just making up a ttrpg character without anybody running a game for you #spend too much time developing the character without the story and the end result will just be a showcase for a character not a full story

"i hate when people compare me to other artists" your audience likely lacks the vocabulary to articulate what those similarities are and why they resonate with the art bc arts education has been in the toilet for 60 years. they are complimenting you using language available to them under a framework unique to their personal experiences. what you want is a collection of dolls with a pull string you can use to elicit specific praises.
