Actually no let me change my mind. Worse than that though is they could have made it one movie if only the action/plot points were tied more strongly to the theme and clearly built upon it instead of mostly moving the plot forward. And if we had more time with Kara's past (because let me tell you I had 0 empathy towards the remaining kryptonians when they were basically responsible for what happened to them AND sent Kal-El to Earth to conquer it. And I sure didn't believe in Kara's mom vision of "be kind".)

Lots of things going on actually.

But, yeah. The movie was a 6.5/10 for me (which is a good score! It's above mid!) and I'm mostly frustrated about it not being great when I really want the new DCU to work and make people fall in love with DC, and I really wanted it to be as good as Superman (2025)

which!! is extremely dumb and entitled in my opinion. like, sure. it's important to know the actual myths and their meaning without our subjective preferences. but it's also completely fine to let the stories live a life of their own inside everyone's head?? even when it becomes shared?? that's just... the point of stories???

it's not as if those new versions were replacing the old ones either!

it's also important to note the versions of the myths we have now aren't the original either, as they were oral tales first and not all of them survived to be written down and passed down to us AND a lot of classics were "fanfictions" as in new storytellers adding to a hero's story or whatnot. like with Jason in Medea. don't you think this instagram girl would be pissed off if someone wrote a book turning a classic hero into a pathetic man now?

anyway those were my 2 cents 🤸‍♀️ there's more to this as greek myths exist in multiple ways now, between them when ancient Greece worshipped gods and then Europe reusing them in its wholeeeeeee litterature, and then again the way we perceive it now. it feels like a lot of people arguing over greek myths purposefully ignore the complexity of it and focus on only one aspect to prove a point, because their argument wouldn't hold if they were to look at it with more nuance. ANYWAY.

we can't control people nor the way they engage with stuff and it wouldn't be right to do so 🤸‍♀️ if someone finds it important that classics/original myths should be known, then the way to do it is through telling those stories again and again to reach anyone who might care, not through telling people to stop doing retellings 🤸‍♀️ that won't work 🤸‍♀️

• at the end of it we're gonna play as Aerith going diagonally back in time again and again until she's satisfied with the outcome

• Aerith is gonna be dead for real but she's gonna make some sort of new comeback in the middle so that we think there was a chance

• 2 Clouds????

• the party is gonna help Aerith in the lifestream because some of them died in different realities

• 2 Aeriths???? OG and remake

• Cloud's gonna get his memories from OG back along with his normal memories when Tifa's gonna save his mind

• Sephiroth is gonna fight Sephiroth

• Genesis and Angeal will be there
