Uuummmmm....

Both of my brothers were a lot different from each other even though they were twins. One of them was actually very normal on the surface but very troubled deep down. He did a good amount of time in prison for something that didn’t actually deserve prison time at all. He was definitely not the type to be able to survive in that environment. After he got out he just never seemed the same again. Everything put together just seemed to be too much for him. I used to talk to him and try my best to help him. He began to become very closed off to the world. He ended his life by jumping into Niagra Falls. We wasn’t found until three weeks later by Canadian authorities.

His twin brother was quite the opposite of him. He did not encounter the things in life that his brother did. Even though they were much different, they say that twins have this sort of connection. He was on the road driving for his company when we had to break the news to him. He immediately came back home. My father wanted just me and him to handle all the arrangements. We spent a week putting everything together. During this time, you would have never known that anything was wrong unless you knew him as well as I did. So I tried to spend every hour of each day that I could with him during this time. I could see the pain on his face when no one else recognized it. We were raised to show no weakness and he was doing just that. But I could see it, I could feel it and I hurt with him silently. We both felt each other’s pain and grief. On the day that we got our brother’s arrangements finalized, we were supposed to meet up at one of our family member’s high school basketball games later that day. I was exhausted from all the planning and long hours of each previous day. I fell asleep. When I woke up, he was still there at the game but said it was almost over and that he would call me when he got home so I could come over. I never got that call. Instead I got a message from him saying that I am the best brother that they could have ever had in life. I messaged back that I loved him and that we were going to get through this together. A few minutes later I got a frantic call from his wife telling me to rush over to their house because he had just shot himself in the head.

After all the chaos in her mind settled, she knew what she wanted. More importantly, she knew what she needed. Humbly presenting the strap was her way of asking for the release that would free her mind and bring peace to her heavy soul.
