Hola I'm Calli, I'm currently in charge of a family of 9 after my in-laws lost everything in a house fire. Currently the ones holding together everything are me and my partner, but he is out of commission and I'm unemployed.

We're going through the lack of water supply, going for our 5th month now.

We're very grateful our last post didn't meet the goal but the funds will be used to get cat food.

Our whole situation is long and a mess but I don't want to make it unnecessarily long, we need help covering food, bottled water, medical attention, my medication, transportation and supplies to kill the mold and make our room available once more.

Overall we'll need $800 considering the USD to Mexican pesos and the tax PayPal takes.

I'm so sorry, I completely understand it's terrible to ask for help right now but a side from the fungus spreading in the house and my partner not healing from his back injury.

Another housemate needs medical attention to treat what we suspect is a UTI and my partner has been having constant toothache and trouble eating and still needs his lab tests.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
