Hey folks! I know I promised a few fics to y'all and I also saved some fics in my draft to post after my final exams. But I'm not doing ok lately. I was rewatching Maul: Shadow Lord and noticed something. Icarus and Scorn are with Maul for some time. They are not new recruited members.
The whole galaxy knows him as dead after losing Mandalore. When Vario sees Scorn he says:
So it means he knows Scorn and Icarus during/before the Mandalore. It's annoying that they wasted such characters as placeholders.

hey its me op but from my fandom blog. the author of wrath was inspired by this book. this was released for the phantom menace in 1999, and wrath was published in 2012, and also took inspiration from another story called Restraint. So the author was cobbling together other stories to make a cohesive maul narrative

The texture of the clothes feel wrong, your routines are changed by unknown factors, unannounced changes, people pleasing, staying quiet when you should've talk back, the weather too hot, humid air. Allport them led to this moment, having a meltdown.
It felt despairing to not have qords to express yourself,what you feel. You don't know what's going on with you, why can't you keep everything inside like always?
Wherever you are, you run to your shared bedroom with Maul. A safe space to have meltdown. He sees you running, he leaves whatever he is doing to come to check on you.
When he finds you crouched in the corner, hands on your head, pulling out your hair, crying helplessly. He doesn't need to ask what's wrong, if someone did something to you he will deal with them later. He comes to you, crouches down beside you, hugging you from side, his hands holding your wrists, putting his cheek on top of your head to ground you. He holds you tight, creating a deep pressure. Your crying slows down, your hands still in your hand but standing there loosely. While he stays in this position, he takes one of your hand, kisses your inner palm, brings your hand down, continuing to hold you down tightly. Your breathing slowed down and your hiccups stopped, you close your eyes and let him hold you tight.

Attached to his glasses is a cylindrical device that is often displayed with red lighting. It seems that there are at least two functionalities associated with it:
Camera
Omega finds in season 1 episode 1 a group foto in Hunters trunk. It is not very good to recognize but it shows Tech without glasses - presumably because he used his glasses to take the foto. So it seems to have the function of a camera and perhaps video caption too.

Scanner/Analysis
It might contain a scanning functionality or perhaps a foto or video can be analysed with a connected computer terminal (e.g. his forearm device)? In season 1 episode 1 he has only his glasses, he doesn't use his datapad or his forearm computer and still it seems like he is analyzing Omega, grabbing the cylindrical device of his glasses and likely repeating the analysis he got returned. It doesn't sound like he is just taking a look at her and guessing what she is. Especially with the little pause before adding "origins uncertain" it gives the impression that he was waiting for an analysis result.
The question is how he gets the information. He might wear some kind of earphones but we don't see it.
Earphones?
As we already saw in the previous example with his glasses and Omega, there are situations where he gets information but we don't see exactly how he is made aware of it.
There is another example in the Clone Wars season 7, episode 4 where he uses his device to monitor enemy communication. Notice how he makes a short pause between "Trech is ordering all his droids" and "to the assembly complex.". He only looked at his forearm device in the beginning, not again during this pause. It seems like he is telling them about the transmission while listening to it. He doesn't have his helmet on but somehow he is informed about things without having to check his forearm device.
This is just my assumption but I imagine he wears some kind of earphones for that to work.
Forearm computer terminal
On his right arm he has a flat device that he can open and inside there a blue and red buttons.
Opening Marauder door
He uses it in season 1 episode 16 to open the door to the Marauder.
Data / Holonet access
In season 1 episode 3 he uses his device and in parallel explains that the creature that stole their capacitor was likely an Ordo Moon Dragon. As he didn't first look at the device and then explain it was an Ordo Moon Dragon but does it at the same time it seems to me that he already knew or assumed this based on his knowledge and continued to get a confirmation from the device. We know he can use it to access local files as he browses through some them in TCW season 7 episode 3 to find the sound file of a Keeradak. He might also get access to the Holonet with it.
Hacking enemy communication
In the Clone Wars season 7 episode 4 he uses his device to access / monitor enemy communication.
In The Bad Batch season 1 episode 5 we don't get to know what he is doing but it seems like it is something similar - checking for enemy communication.
Signal tracking / Analysis?
We see him using his device in the Clone Wars season 7 episode 2 while he tries to track Echos signal. Later he uses his datapad for the signal tracking. As we only see him using his forearm device when he is currently having troubles picking up the signal it might be, that he uses his datapad for the signal tracking and only used his forearm device at this point to analyse for atmospheric disturbances (he assumed that was the reason that he lost the signal).
Visor Usage
Hacking
In the Clone Wars season 7 episode 3 he uses his visor to help hack the interface to release Echo from the Techno Union computer system.
Translation
We see him using his visor for translation - for example in the Clone Wars season 7 episode 3. The question is how he knows how to pronounce the alien words. Maybe he gets the translation as sound played in his ears by the helmet (or earphones?). In theory, phonetic spelling could be used too (but that doesn’t seem to be the case here - it shows in blue Aurebesh and in red the Alien language ).

Scanning (Thermo scan)
He can use his visor to display/scan the environment - included is a thermo scanner that helps with detection of organics, even inside buildings (see season 1 episode 10).
This could work with droids too - provided that they generate heat. At least Crosshair has was able to see with his rangefinder droids behind walls in a similar way (the Clone Wars season 7, episode 3).
Field glasses / zoom
He can use his visor for zooming / as field glasses (as seen in season 1 episode 6).
Display files
He uses his visor to search for audio files in the Clone Wars season 7 episode 3, together with his forearm device.
Datapad
Hacking
He used his datapad in season 1 episode 8 to access the canon on the republic ship on Bracca, and made it fire (with Echos help to power it up first).
In the Clone Wars season 7 episode 1 he uses it to hack the enemy system, to look for the republic algorithm (Echos signal).
He can also use it to access security systems (including cameras) as seen in season 1 episode 10.
On Bracca he uses it to hack/monitor enemy communication (season 1 episode 8).
Triggering grenade explosion
He uses in season 1 episode 1 the button on his datapad to trigger the grenade he had attached earlier to a battle droid.
Opening Doors
We see him several times using his datapad to open doors e.g. in the Clone Wars season 7 episode 4.
Scanning (for droids)
He can use the datapad to scan for droids in the vicinity (e.g. season 1 episode 1 or the Clone Wars season 7 episode 1).
Encrypting / creation of chain codes
He used his datapad together with specific disks obtained by Echo to create chain codes (season 1 episode 2). Likely he created and encrypted the data (personal information that makes up the chain code) and transferred it on the disks.
Signal jamming
He can jam signals with his datapad (as seen in season 1 episode 8).
Signal tracking (Echos signal)
It can be used for tracking of signals (e.g. Echos signal in the Clone Wars season 7 episode 2).
Accessing information
He checked how Wrecker could possibly calm down / control the juvenile rancor. He might have accessed the Holonet or some local files for that (season 1 episode 5).
Communication
The datapad can be used as communication device (season 1 episode 2).

The Bad Batch
Hunter's type is someone who is willing to reassure him when he spirals in his anxiety again and who is able to pull him out and make him see what is actually going on. And if you are attuned to his heightened senses and make them not feel overwhelmed, even better.
Tech's type is someone who thrives on information and is willing to engage in various debates with him and are also never annoyed by hours of rants about a topic he's currently focused on. Bonus point is when you are specialized in a field and can correct him.
Wrecker's type is someone who can keep up with his energy, preferably just as strong so he doesn't have to be scared to hurt you. Ideally, you also love food and/or can cook well or know the most interesting recipes.
Crosshair's type is someone quiet by choice and who will challenge him but never prod too much. Also someone who can look past his walls and other defences and most importantly, someone he can trust who will stay loyal to him.
Echo's type is someone calm, someone he can come back to at the end of the day and relax, but also someone who shares the same morals/sense of justice and will fight for what's right instead of sitting back and letting others do it.
Commanders
Wolffe's type is someone who just gives him a break from all the stupidity he feels exists around him. Preferably, you have some bite of your own and can snark with him whenever he's in the mood.
Fox's type is someone he can trust to be relaxed around and let his guard down. Someone who can prove they're trustworthy, won't demand too much energy for him and is willing to take care of him when he's way past his breaking point and refusing to rest.
Cody's type is someone who is just as competent as him in whatever field they specialise in and who won't back down from a challenge. But also someone who thrives on protecting and caring for others and holds this in a similar high regard as their occupation.
Mayday's type is a calm soul with whom he can sit down and spend an entire day just sharing stories with. Someone who wants to spend time with him in various ways so you can share each others hobbies too.
501st
Rex's type is someone who can go toe-to-toe with him and is just as competent and ready to fight but is also able to have a softer side. Someone who won't judge him if he gets emotional and needs someone to be close for a moment before he can be strong again.
Fives' type is an adventurous soul who will not back down from a challenge or a prank. Ideally, you prank him right back while engaging in reckless flirting. He loves someone who has a relaxed side but won't hesitate to defend the ones they love or debate philosophy with him.
Jesse's type is a generally carefree soul who will joke around with him but also fight with him for what's right when the time comes. Preferably a person who knows all the gossip too and can share it with him.
Kix's type is someone who's self-sustaining. After caring for all of his brothers all day, he wants someone who doesn't always need him to take care off. He just wants to spend some carefree and relaxed time with you.
Hardcase's type it someone unashamedly loud as him and will not talk him down from his insane ideas but instead even encourage them and participate too, maybe even throw in some of their own. Just someone who is unafraid to be themselves.
Dogma's type is someone who respects regulations as much as him but at the same time, can take charge and show him that it's not fatal to go against them every once in a while; adhering to every word all the time is stressful for him, no matter how much he wants to.
Tup's type is someone who is not necessarily sensitive but attuned to emotions and not afraid when it comes to waiting for him when he's not yet ready for another step. Someone who won't get tired from reassuring him when hos worries get the better of him.
Misc.
Howzer's tpye is pacifist who does not drag him into another fight when it is avoidable. Ideally also someone who holds romantic gestures/an act of service in a similar high regard as he does.
Gregor's type is someone who is adventurous and not scared to go through with some insane ideas while also able to slow down and just exist with him. Someone who will not make fun of his more quirky ways due to his brain injury or when he struggles remembering things.

Teaming up with Scorn, Icarus and Spybot

While growing up he did not know his age nor his birthday. But he guessed his age, according to informations about Zabraks on holopad.
While filing his horns routinely, you ask his birthday. But the answer he gave is, he doesn't know.
You take the matter into hands, and decide to prepare a surprise birthday party for him. Even if he doesn't know his birthday, you think prepearing a party for him would make him happy, make him feel seen and cared for.
Your original idea was to make this occasion between you, turning this event to a private, intimate moment. Well, the happines grows when it's shared, why not invite Spybot evil kitty and his other Zabrak boys?
You talk about this with Icarus and Scorn, they are glad to help.
You send Icarus to get some baking ingredients, and send Scorn to get some decor materials.
While Maul is busy making some strategy, you send the boys secretly, if Maul asks, you would say the took town leave for a few hours.
Icarus comes back after an hour, impressed by his speed you start with the baking process and send him to check on Scorn.
While you were baking, Spybot drops by, he is send from Maul to check on you. You didn't give him any tasks as it would rise Maul's suspicion that there's something going on. You were mostly finished with the cake, leaving it to chill at cooling supply unit. Now his task is to protect the cake from others and Maul finding out about it.
Scorn and Icarus come back after a while, you give them the task to make the room prepeared according to Zabrak/Dathomirian culture. You are not sure if he is going to like it, since he didn't grow up (as far as I know) with Dathomirian culture as Icarus and Scorn did. Scorn eases your mind with , he would like anything you make for him. Well now the only task is to decor Spybot.
You try bargain to put a red bow on Spybot's head, telling him Maul would like it if he puts it on. After a few times of running after him he tried to escape you, you finally persuade him with if he puts the bow on, he will recieve more headpets from Maul. (He looks so evil and cute with it tho)
Almost everything was set, it is time to bring Maul for his birthday.

I just saw an anon come into a gif-maker’s ask box and start with the phrase: “I’m trying not to spam your inbox with reblogs, but” and then go on to say how much they love the gifs.
But I’m still stuck on that opening phrase because…what? I am so confused by how people view interactions on tumblr & AO3 these days. Let me make it very clear for anyone who is unsure:
CREATORS WANT YOU TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK.
The limit does not exist on how many of their works you can interact with in a certain period.
If you like every fic they’ve ever written? Then feel free to give them all kudos and even leave a comment on every single one if you feel inclined! If you’re going through someone’s blog and you vibe with every post, like/reblog to your heart’s content!
As long as you’re not expecting something back from them or adding a ton of irrelevant comments, it’s not spam! It’s what this is all about!! I’m not even much of a creator and I still feel a huge sense of pride when I see a ton of notifications in a row from a person, as it clearly shows they thought my blog was worth spending time on.
And if for some reason a creator is annoyed by this (unlikely), they can manage their own experience (turn off notifs, not look at their notes, delete the fic, etc) -- so don’t deprive the majority of creators because of some imagined annoyed person.
