i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw
I think this month, July 2026, might be a decisive one in my life, due to a few factors that I can talk about if anyone is interested.
But it all depends on my actions. If I can summon all my executive functioning abilities, and spend a significant amount of my time outside of my temp job doing some tasks that I don’t really enjoy rather than things I do enjoy, I may be able to achieve some things that will put me on a path towards the kind of life I actually want. A more independent adult life.
i'm really glad 6 isnt afraid of 7 anymore and you could all stand to be more supportive of their relationship
Umm, but 7 is literally a cannibal? She ate another integer, 9. Tbh saying we should support 7 is kinda problematic :/
Someone in the Facebook group "oddly specific playlists" coined a phrase "uneasy nostalgia" in reference to a playlist they were making back in fall 2024. And it has really stuck with me
Anyway, the latest song to give me that feeling is "VCR" by the xx. It's a nice song, but it makes me feel so sad, like a nostalgia for something I never experienced, and might not ever get the chance to

I wonder if anyone’s ever tried suing the inventors of Snapchat and Instagram for deep emotional suffering inflicted
I posted this in June 2019
I'm not sure if anyone had tried it then, but they certainly have since
stole this from the tl but i need to know
Cortland or Ginger Gold if I can find it. Sometimes Fuji if I want something sweeter, or Honeycrisp if they’re on sale (they’re good but I don’t feel like they’re “$3.49 per lb” good).
I have to admit I can’t remember if I’ve ever tried an Envy before. I think I’ve seen them, but didn’t go out of my way to try it because of my bias against trademarked apple varieties. Maybe I should though
Edit: I looked it up, Envy has Gala as a parent, I might still try it sometime but I don’t anticipate that I would love it especially much
Update: this was an old post. I have since tried Envy apples many times and they are really freaking good
idk if this is an usamerican thing or not but it always blows my mind as a small european country resident that yall have many names and types of apples???? what do you mean its not just red yellow or green??? why is it so complicated??? who is granny smith????
'whats your favorite apple' 'red' 'no i mean like what type' '??????' actual conversatiom i've had with a mutual from usa
THIRTY TWO??????
Listen that doesn’t even account for all the weird shit local farmers are getting up to.
May I present the best apple:
the world is so big and beautiful
Do you mind if I ask you what country you live in? This conversation seems relevant to my interests
In college, I wrote a 20-page essay about the history of apples in the US for one of my environmental studies classes. I learned that apples came to the US from Europe, but if I remember correctly, it was trendy in the 1800s for orchard growers across the US to selectively breed new varieties. So at one time there were like, a thousand named varieties in the US. So maybe the amount of variety in apples in the US outpaced what it was in Europe? I don't really know, but I'd be curious to learn more!
Anyway, Granny Smith was a grandma named Maria Ann Smith who actually lived in Australia!
This is so good
I wonder when the last time was that Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney talked to each other
Paul McCartney has opened up about his relationship, or lack thereof, with Bob Dylan, admitting that he still remains "nervous to approach"
He then cast his mind back to 2016 when they last met, recalling, “Last time I saw Bob, it was a few years ago, we are at Coachella and they did the Desert Trip, so it was a lot of vintage acts. Us, Stones, Bob, Neil Young[".]

pears are just good apples
Update: OP invited me to her wedding. I should have guessed what fruit was going to be in the salad course that they served
so baby hold me closer in the toast slot of your toaster
This took me a second because at first when I read "hold me closer" I was just thinking of of Tiny Dancer by Elton John
ok fine I read the puppygirl essay. it's good but I am kind of surprised that the discussion I've seen has revolved entirely around the puppygirl herself, because if you told me me this was short fiction I'd have read it at least as much as a character sketch of the narrator.
like the scenario described is a total mess, and you can see how the narrator bears a larger share of responsibility than she's willing to concede just for staying in there and putting up for it for so long, but you can totally relate to her position, because the questions it raises are so uncomfortable. It's this deeply miserable, intractable situation, and I was reading along expecting that it would either end in a horrible blowup or that this essay would itself be the horrible blowup, so I was completely startled by the, like, moral deus ex machina where all the uncomfortable details are revealed as illusory and swept away in a great hurry to make room for the happy ending.
I actually like it better this way, but it's good because it reads like motivated self-delusion on the part of the narrator, and that makes it a much more compelling commentary on the underlying problems than if it had just reached a conventional conclusion like "you have to put on your own oxygen mask first". you escape from a utility monster by changing how you perceive utility!
You read the what now
I DuckDuckGo'd "puppygirl essay", the first result was this Substack post, which says it's a response to an article called "Dump your puppygirl" by Tara Knight, so then I searched that, and found this
Is this the essay you're talking about?
I only just learned that the word "hopepunk" was (at least according to Vox) coined on Tumblr by Alexandra Rowland, who I had primarily known as the person who wrote the "Beau fucking Brummel" Twitter thread
I like how "funny made-up holiday about a nerdy theme, followed by a holiday associated with a non-US country that Americans use as an excuse to get drunk" is a thing that occurs twice in the American calendar.
Pi Day and St. Patrick's Day in March, and then May the 4th and Cinco de Mayo in May

i love shipping magazines and i especially love them when they sound like they were written by a mildly aggravated cargo ship
The graphic at the top reminds me of the one they use on PolitiFact for "FACT CHECK: FALSE" which is also funny
reblog this and in the tags, write the band that comes to mind first when you think back to being 13 years old
