RWBY Hero Forged
In order to remain Sane (broad term), over the past couple of weeks I've been going through and redoing some old Hero Forge minis for RWBY Characters, as my original ones were...
...a bit lifeless and/or uninspired, shall we say.
Unlike previous times though, Hero Forge now has access to Kitbashing - something usually only for physical miniatures - and suddenly, so much more became possible
Kitbashing is the practice of taking one or a number pieces from multiple pre-established sets or kits, and combining them into one new piece.
On Hero Forge, you could always remix things by having Torso A with Face C and Hair Piece H12, but that was still just cycling through pieces where they were meant to be - head on the head, boots on the feet, pants on the legs, etc. With Kitbashing, now there's no limit as to where things can go.
To give an example of the Kitbashing process: when I was creating Crescent Rose, I know that there wasn't going to be a high powered sniper rifle scythe combo just laying around for me to use as is.
So, I searched the catalogue and found these pieces that could work for me. - Sniper Rifle (simple) - Spear - Handgun - Scope - Techno Sword - Techno Dagger - Small Dagger - Hand Scythe Blade
After that, you align them all until it gives the profile you are wanting. Definitely a lot easier to do this in a digital format, as you can do as I have and have parts overlapping each other, intersecting in ways that would be physically impossible for a non-quantum piece of plastic to achieve - sadly, I myself appear to be out of stock on that particular resource.
Once the assembling of that is complete, you can change the colours to better suit what you want and now add it to your scene with the character(s) you want.
Crescent Rose was definitely one of the tougher ones to create, but it was one of the last, so I had realised at this point that making the weapon in its own space and then adding it in afterwards was so much easier than trying to build it within a 'Hero' Model with far more finicky and overlapping-y bits
