This hurts…
I could be wrong but the ending scene gives the vibes that Kris spent a good amount of time waiting at that door. Likely not at the chance that Susie would come back but just letting everything sink in.
The confirmation of one-sided Krusie via their interactions in Chapter 5 does loads for the tragedy of their relationship. I can see Kris just standing in silence thinking about how not only are they losing Susie in the real world but also in the world thats supposed to be an escape from the real.
Kris has nothing to themself.
They feel like they have been overshadowed by their older brother, their family got torn apart, they getting puppeted around, and whatever is going on with Dess and the Knight and the promise.
And Susie was a ray of light in all of that chaos.
Their entire life has been upended and the moment they finally start to connect with someone on a deeper level, a fellow outcast, not only do their feelings not exact align...they are bringing the one they do love into the dynamic.
And they can’t even control their body while all of this is going on.
I like Suselle but man do I feel bad for Kris.
Kris is in a constant state of “Worst Day Of Highschool Ever” at all times
I genuinely love how the dialogue "We would never find Care A" may be considered as the interpretation about how a person will be not the same as before, especially after the traumatic event. Yeah, sort of PTSD... I can feel that Noelle would try to open the Dess' computer, to find every evidence about what happened to her
do you guys think the flowers give Kris extreme uncanny valley? They look human but they’re. Not. They aren’t darkners or lightners either. But they’re trying to look human, and I can imagine that for a real human who’s lived their entire lives in a town of only monsters, is probably horrifying.
I wonder if Flowery specifically makes them uncomfortable. From what we’ve seen of humans in this game so far, Flowery’s human form seems the most accurate/realistic.
Alternate chapter five weird route where the Flowery and Ralsei talk gets replaced by Flowery and Kris.
Flowery asks Kris why seeing him seems to freak them out so much.
They’re both pretending to be humans after all. And it seems like he’s doing a much better job at being a person.

I have a maybe stupid deltarune chapter 5 AU idea:
Flowery refuses to let us close his dark fountain, even if Asgore objects, for the sake of him and his friends finally having the elevated consciousness that was once always out of reach for them. Effectively saying that unless the fun gang literally kills them all, they can’t close the fountain, and that closing it would even be the same as killing them. That it isn’t fair their fountain stays open, if they’re the ones who would die either way since they can’t be brought to theirs and can’t stay in the one they’re already in.
After kicking their butts with his OP fuckass determination powers, Flowery compromises with the fun gang to close their castle town and bring all the castle town recruits to the flower shop.
Ralsei and Susie are, of course, kinda pissed that they have to share dark fountains now. Susie grows a bit more used to it, as she befriended pretty much all the flowers and wanted them to come with in the first place, but Ralsei is. Not adjusting to no longer being the one providing things in the dark world for his friends. He’s no longer the prince of his own castle.
Asgore is also now a part of the party, working alongside the fun gang to gather clues and research the fountains further, as well as assisting in future battles.
and I know there’s stuff in here that makes no sense, like, the flowers said they’d die in the darkness anyway, even if their dark world didn’t close, and, where is the roaring knight here? Wouldn’t they have still taken Asgore? And to that I say:
Well…uh…this is just an excuse to fantasize about a world where we get to keep the flowers ok….
….I just really like seth and green and yellow and blue and aqua and orange and and…
DELTARUNE CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS
"The Bluest Flower, A disciple of my speech.
Shy to no camera, And a specimen of Elegance and kindness.
Should you meet, Please give my regards."
this is my own head canon heavy version of Blue would as a real human! ish. i don't know if his hair flowers are possible actually. i like to think he's named Beau...
i'm planning on doing all the flowers humanized!! but i'm not sure who i should do next hmmmm.............
oh right here's some close ups too
Flowery said a lot of interesting things huh.....Wait a moment
....GUYS I HAVE A CRACK THEORY
I swear to god if it turns out that Ralsei is the fucking root system beneath hometown im gonna be livid.
my fluffy #!$&ing tail…..
ok this might’ve been obvious to literally everyone except for me but I just realized that the reason flowery is so self aware, the reason he’s so op, and the reason he has so much meta knowledge that he maybe shouldn’t have is because he’s the Determination flower. All the flowers are meant to sort’ve represent one of the original human souls, first seen in Undertale, and since Flowery is pretty clearly a parallel to Flowey, that means that he’s the power of will. Determination, idk, whatever!!
The point is, he used his power of Will to gain fake stats and strength and knowledge he maybe shouldn’t have. That’s why I personally think it’s so, so important that the end of the chapter, while implying he was fatally wounded, doesn’t actually confirm his death. This guy HAS to be more important than he seems. either that or I’m just stupid and pulling poop from my butt, but I really do feel like he’ll come back.

some people really just play deltarune with their eyes closed because what. Do you mean. Chapter 5 felt like filler and wasn’t lore heavy. Brother. Brother Read The Text in the Text Based Lore Game. Read.
Like, yeah, chapter five WAS lore heavy. Some of you just don’t know what lore means. It’s not gonna outwardly tell you “Hey Check Out This Lore™️ Dess Is the Knight And Rudy is Secretly Evil And Noelle Is the Angel” like. No. The lore here comes from the bits and pieces of information that’s given throughout the chapter which, even if this dark world in particular is sort’ve a calm-before-the-storm one-last-fun-adventure, there’s still SO much information given that throws a wrench in the Dess knight theory, that expands what we know of what Asgore knows about dark worlds along with the fact that he’s BEEN IN ONE BEFORE and much more than that!! like for fucks sake one of the shelter codes was found this chapter?? What more do you want??????? God forbid some stories don’t just info dump story and plot on you at all times and don’t turn to the camera and explain it all to you. God forbid some stories build up their plot and lore over time. God forbid a story where characters are one of its most important elements takes the time to develop said characters and their relationships to one another.
Has anyone else noticed that, in chapter five, it seems like Kris has a lot more control over themselves than they did before? There were multiple instances where they just…didn’t do what we wanted them to do, or did something without us knowing
Sorry for the lack of examples given, I literally just finished the chapter lol but it’s very interesting. They’ve been resisting us more.

so how do you guys think Kris felt when seeing that lock of Susie’s hair on their bed. And how do you think they felt seeing her carry Noelle into the lake, listening to her heartbeat, laughing with her without them. How do you think they felt during the festival, if you picked for Noelle and Susie to play the hammer game together. To go on the Ferris wheel together. Then being asked to vote them as queen and queen for the festival. How did they feel picking out an outfit for Susie’s date. How did they feel when Susie asked if they could bring Noelle into the dark worlds with them.
If their thing.
Their special thing.
Their Kris and Susie thing.
Could be.
Her thing.
Too.
Toby fox why the fuck do you hate non-binary people
I love you, green from deltarune. The perfect woman. Or them. I don’t know. I love you, green from deltarune. I can’t believe she solos the knight at the end of chapter five. But also, c’mon, who else but green from deltarune? I love you, green from deltarune.

Oh tricky tony. You’ve done it again. You’ve created a character who’s deliberately meant to make the player uncomfortable, who holds a mirror to us and makes us question why, exactly, our happiness and our fantasy matters more than his, why our dark world and our friends take precedence over his. In the chapter that most clearly parallels undertale too!!
It surprises me so much that, in a game universe whose biggest core messages are that of subversion and getting the player to question their own place in its narrative, so many people, including me, fell right for the trap of hating Flowery the moment we saw him.
By using a combination of common tropes associated with two faced or twist villain characters, and the fact so many of us, whether subconsciously or not, were prepared to face a character who’s supposed to be “Deltarune Flowey”, we’re immediately confronted with the fact that, one, Deltarune Isn’t Undertale, and two, Flowery is right. Flowery, most often than not, has a point.
The game wants to make you uncomfortable at your own hypocrisy. It intentionally tries to convince you that it was your idea to start hating him. So that you, as the player, start to try and make excuses as to why even though the both of you want pretty much the same thing, what you want matters more than what he wants.
Flowery seems like he could flip a switch any time he wants. You spend the whole chapter just waiting for it. Waiting for him to drop the mask, but he never does.
He really does love his friends. He really does love Asgore. He doesn’t kill the fun gang, you don’t actually get a game over screen when you lose to him. He reveals his weird meta knowledge to Susie pretty much right when he meets her, and it isn’t difficult for him. It’s not over complicated or stressful, like it is with Ralsei. He tells her where the shelter code is hidden. Right in his soil.
The whole entire game, he is nothing but honest with us. Unlike Ralsei. Susie. Kris. He is just honest and it just feels like it shouldn’t be that easy and that’s why we want to hate him so bad.
Alright, Chapter 5 is barely 24 hours old, so I apologize if these takes turn out to be lukewarm or obvious in hindsight, but I need to throw this out there or I'm gonna explode.
I wanna talk about Flowery.
Everyone fucking hates Flowery. Why?
Everyone is comparing his reveal to Tenna's, but those circumstances could not be more different in terms of narrative. Tenna is, from the jump, supposed to be light-hearted and fun. He is the personification of the Fun Gang letting loose and having a good time. This is what makes his eventual reveal that he's working with the Knight into an actual betrayal. If we didn't trust Tenna, that moment wouldn't work.
With Flowery, the vibes are rancid from the moment he's revealed. He's charming and charismatic, but something is off. Not to mention that Ralsei absolutely despises him.
So, why make Flowery unlikable? What's the point?
Well, the point is that Flowery is the exact opposite of Tenna.
With Tenna, we like him, but he's wrong.
With Flowery, we hate him, but he's right.
Everything that Flowery does to Asgore is an exact mirror to what Ralsei did with Kris and Susie at the beginning of the game. In fact, the entire chapter is a complete mirror of Chapter 1's dark world!
Flowery gives Asgore a home, gives him friends, tells him that he's special. And yet, we spend the entire chapter trying to get Asgore out of that situation, with the understanding that it's dangerous.
But what about it is dangerous? The denial of reality? Because Susie is now living in a dark world. The exact thing that Asgore gave an entire heartwarming speech about not doing.
When Flowery tells us that we could close Castle Town instead of his dark world and we would be no closer to the Roaring, we hate him because he's right. When he says that all the flowers want is to live and a chance to make Asgore as happy as he's made them, we hate him because he's right.
And, at the end of the chapter, he tries to defeat us with the power of friendship. The other flowers never turn on him. He uses a mercy attack against us, and Kris responds by hitting him with a sword.
Y'all, were supposed to hate Flowery. And we're supposed to feel uncomfortable about why we do.
This is exactly how I felt about him, but I couldn’t figure out how exactly to put it into words!!! thank you op ❤️ this is such a clean analysis of Flowery and his role in the story
