Personally, I've always been a fan of Link x Ilia. I just feel drawn to the cozy, wholesome, and entertaining relationship they have, as well as the fact that they're childhood friends — and Ilia is Link's motivation for starting his journey. While I don't ship Link x Midna, I do understand why a lot of people like it so much. Link and Midna grow closer throughout the storyline, and a lot of people are into the "doomed lovers" trope. However, I don't really understand Link x Zelda in Twilight Princess. They hardly interact the whole game — and when they do speak, it's merely professional. I'm assuming the appeal comes simply from it being Zelink, which works in pretty much every other game and is quite popular in the fandom. I'm not against TP Zelink shippers; I just personally don't think it works as well as Link x Ilia or Link x Midna.
