Food porn has been done a million times.
But there’s something about this new spot from RKCR/Y&R London that feels undeniably fresh.
Pun intended.
(Thanks once again to Martin Murphy!)
Great video
Interactive, Color-Changing Moto X Ad in the Print Edition of ‘Wired’
Wow. Is anyone not going to spend time with this?
Also, this is probably the first time I’ve seen a trailer for a print ad. Pretty cool.
Great new print idea!
This three-minute ad for a Thai mobile phone company has gone viral, with close to two million views in just four days.
But it still demonstrates that posting something online is useless without a well-executed idea – which this most certainly is.
Our new camera/computer cart! Loving it.

Blackberry Advertisements
Client: RIM & Verizon Wireless
Their Philosophy: Blackberry's philosophy is that there is a phone for every person out there. Whether you are Lisa Garcia (a freelancer and travel blogger), Phil Estabrook (a truckdriver and father), Ben Cameron (an account manager and sports fan), Edward Spanner (a CIO) or Allison Goodall (senior manager and mother), RIM is there to assist you in finding a phone that works for your individual lifestyle.
Our Concept: By using models of varying ethnicities, ages and backgrounds, we were able to capture all of these different lifestyles and individual personalities. All elements were taken into account like model selection, set design, wardrobe and hair/makeup in order to create believable characters that you would find in real-life society.
Our Result: What we ended up with were clear depictions of people in our world. By quickly glimpsing at the images you instantly get an idea of who this person is, what their lifestyle is like and why having a blackberry works for them. Can you guess who is represented in each image?

Real Sports Apparel
Client: Real Sports Apparel (MLSE) www.realsports.ca/apparel
Their Philosophy: "At Real Sports, we believe that fans don't just feel pride; They wear it." Real Sports Apparel is the go to store for true die-hard fans. It is where you get the sports memorabilia, the closet full of gear for every team that you cheer for and the jersey that you wear to every game. Real Sports is a "home sweet home for every fan with an undeniable love for sports."
Our Concept: We wanted to capture exactly what Real Sports and their fans are all about. They are about anyone and everyone from all cultures, ages and walks of life, who love sports and wear sports apparel with pride. We chose models from different ethnic backgrounds and ages, we kept the makeup & hair ultra clean and sporty and we shot the photos in a natural environment. Nothing was overdone, too processed or stuffy. This is about sports after all.
Our Result: What we ended up with were images that represented the real fans in the real world in their sports wear. It is organic and true to the brand of Real Sports Apparel. GAME ON!
Toronto Maple Leafs
Client: Toronto Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/index.html)
Their Philosophy: The Maple Leafs strive for teamwork, dedication, courage, perserverance and to fight for the win. Their philosophy is to play hard, play fair, to not give up on each other and to never give up on the game.
Our Concept: With such inspiring players as our models, we aimed to capture the true grit and reality of the game and of the players themselves. The arenas photographed are all community rinks located in South Western Ontario and in the GTA. It is easy to forget that each and every NHL player started as a child with a dream on their local rink. We wanted to reflect this idea throughout the shots.
Our Result: What we ended up with were beautiful, real and raw photographs. We were able to capture the intensity of the players but also the beauty in the love that they have for the game. The photographs of the arenas showed their incredible architecture but also reflected the emotions within them now and throughout Canadian hockey history.
It was a challenge to portray so many things in a still image, yet it was an absolute pleasure to try and a great achievement to succeed.
The Portraiture Project
A study of the relationship between who you are and what you do
Light Imaging has embarked on a new journey. We have called it the portraiture project and we are searching for the most interesting people that we can find. We want to know who they are, what they do and where their life has taken them. Young & Old; Blue & White Collar; City & Country; etc. It doesn't matter. If you LOVE what you do and it is a true reflection of who you are, then we want to photograph it.
This is an ongoing project. Each person's individual story and how they got there will be posted under their pictures. Here is a sneak peak of the portraits of John Loewen (a farming machinery technician) and Andre Versnick (a tobacco farmer). Their stories are to come...

Still-Life Food Photography
Client: Borealis Grille & Bar (www.borealisgrille.ca)
Their Philosophy: "Borealis Grillhouse & Pub is a restaurant that serves the very best of locally crafted foods and beverages at everyday prices. We bring "The Taste of Ontario", the highest quality of fresh products from Ontario farmers, breweries and wineries to our guests each and every day. Combined with a deep respect for local heritage and craftsmanship and an unwavering dedication for sustainability, Borealis represents the embodiment of our philosophy"
Our Concept: With such respect for local farmers, heritage and sustainability, it was important for us to craft photographic images that not only portrayed the unique ideas of this restaurant but also the deliciousness of this food.
Our Result: With attention to detail and the right gear, we were able to beautifully capture their cuisine. The images turned from still-life food photography, to detailed works of art.
Each dish tells a story at Borealis and we loved capturing those stories!
What: Commercial Advertisement Shoot
Client: Medi-Cal (www.royalcanin.ca)
Their Philosophy: Medi-Cal was launched by Veterinary Medical Diets (VMD) in Canada in October 1990 by 3 veterinarians and a PHD nutritionist. The company focuses on providing quality products and incorporating world-wide advantages in nutrition into canine and feline diets.
Our Team: Photographer Jonathan Bielaski and assistant shooter Jessica Lynn.
The Shoot: Patience, patience and patience is what is needed when working with animals of any kind. You have to be attentive, quick to respond to moments that last a very short time and patient in getting the animal to work with you rather than against you.
The Result: What we ended up with were gorgeous, serene images. They were light, airy and reflected Medi-Cal's Brand philosophy. The dogs look vibrant, healthy and strong!

ManEx Event: Men's Lifestyle Exhibition
On September 15, 2011, St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation hosted the first annual MANEX (a MEN’s night out) in support of men’s health. Revolution Nightclub was transformed into a one-of-a-kind men’s night out with experiences and adventures from a variety of lifestyle interests including golf, fine spirits, sports, cars and culinary arts.
The light Imaging team was called in to capture it all!
Asides from the amazing booths, there were models roaming around the floors dressed up as authentic 1950s pinup girls. From their hair and makeup to their wardrobe, these girls looked like they stepped out of the past and were ready to mingle. We were able to capture each girl through an artistic portraiture series. Take a look!
