this division between âlgbt acesâ and âstraight acesâ (of course they always forget aros) is imposed on aces by people who donât understand asexuality and want us to define ourselves based on the boxes theyâre already familiar with instead of accepting new ones.
if youâre ace and you find that romantic orientation doesnât mean much to you or that romantic attraction is too hard to define know that you donât have to pick a side. you can use those labels when you feel that theyâre relevant, but being ace is enough, it doesnât require any other labels or explanations.Â
donât force yourself to fit the definitions of people trying to misrespresent you.
Itâs âimposedâ by people pointing out asexuality isnât an actual orientation. It canât be as there is no common thing asexuals actually have in common so itâs a nonsensical label.
Itâs not a sexual orientation. Your orientation is who you are attracted to. Not splitting attraction into âsexualâ and âromanticâ. Just attraction. You like boys and youâre a boy? Youâre gay! Itâs that simple. You donât need to split it.
