Michael’s has more fabric now but it’s still not as good as Joann Fabric because Joann Fabric had ghosts and Michael’s doesn’t.
ok ur couple loves each other but do they even like each other. do they get up to mischief are they little schemers together do they whisper to each other in cahoots. are they sick in the head. do other ppl think they're bad separately but 4x as worse if they're in the same room. do u know something is up if one of them is sat there by themselves laughing and the other has disappeared mysteriously. if your couple isnt giggle whispering bc of some dark jokes that theyre telling one another, theyre boring and im not interested in that romance
MY NAME, IS FRICKIN MOON MOON. I’D BE THE MOST IDIOTIC WOLF. ‘OH SHIT WHO BROUGHT FUCKING MOON MOON ALONG?’
the post that started it all
oh god
Never not reblogging.
I’ve only seen this post in screenshots
I’m very surprised this post hasn’t broken a million.
I’ve watched a lot of tutorials about how to make epub files and I gotta say, not my favorite part of being a writer. That would be the writing part. Want an excerpt from my romantasy The Bone Mask, about a woman who gets away from her cult-like village and gets snowed in with the masked man who stalks the forest? Here you go!

Children had always whispered about the cell in the catacombs of the Priest’s Lodge. It was a favorite pastime for the older children to pass on the information to the little ones, as it had been passed to them. “That’s where they put the witches,” they would say, often with a shove toward the door that led down to the cavern. Screams mingled with giggles.
It was a different experience being on the other side of the door. Down steps carved into rock, recesses in the walls held oily candles that flickered weak light over the iron bars. The smell of tallow, rust and wet stone filled her nose and she felt buried alive before they even shut the cell door.

when two musicians sing into the same microphone and lean in very close to each other… like omg are you guys gonna kiss now to relieve the homoerotic tension?😳
THIS IS NOT ABOUT ONE DIRECTION I DON’T KNOW WHO THIS “HARRY” PERSON IS GO WATCH BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND CLARENCE CLEMONS KISS ON STAGE RIGHT NOW
op is the only valid person i’ve ever met. everyone else needs to come to the light
Okay, but this is really important: Bruce Springsteen occupied this really weird place in music history. His songs were all from this pessimistic, nihilistic view of an America that had let him down:
Just like the anti-Vietnam War protest songs that we associate with the 1960s, or the early nihilism that spawned punk music in the 1970s. But he didn’t *sound* like a punk anarchist; he sounded like a country rock singer. When he released Born in the U.S.A. people completely misinterpreted (or possibly ignored) the lyrics in favor of the tone of the music.
Politicians used his music to promote their ‘Murica Yes! brand, and he had to literally explain that that was not what he was about. He’s over here asking when we’re going to have jobs and heathcare, not stanning the politicians who weren’t helping the people.
It was also kind of a big deal that he had an integrated band, because even as late as the 1980s music was still kind of segregated and MTV was straight up racist. They refused to play and promote black artists and then claimed that were no black artists in the first place. Michael Jackson’s record company had to threaten a boycott of their white artists to get MTV to play his Thriller video.
Plus, the first black/white interracial kiss on TV was in 1968 (OG Star Trek). Also it took us until the 70s to get sympathetic gay characters on screen, and the 90s to get gay characters to kiss onscreen. And all of those firsts were met with outrage.
So keep that in mind when you see Bruce Springsteen not just playing with an interracial band, but engaging in an interracial, gay kiss on stage repeatedly.
Passages from American Popular Music by Larry Starr and Christopher Waterman
I used to think that Bruce and Clarence kissing onstage was exuberance, showmanship, and telling racist homophobes to fuck off. Like, they picked up a certain kind of audience and went “Racist homophobes? Not in our house!” And started the kissing then but then I actually looked it up and

It was a story where… we remade the city. We remade the city, shaping it into the kind of place where our friendship and our love for one another wouldn’t have been such an exceptional thing. - Bruce Springsteen
It wasn’t about showmanship or rejecting bigots or anything it was just. Damn right that was one of the loves of his life and damn right he was going to kiss him onstage
It gets me a little that Bruce has had a divorce, that he’s been married twice, but he loved Clarence for the rest of Clarence’s life and will presumably love him the rest of his own
Clemons said in one interview. “Bruce and I looked at each other and didn’t say anything, we just knew. We knew we were the missing links in each other’s lives. He was what I’d been searching for.” In another version of the story, Clemons says “He looked at me, and I looked at him, and we fell in love.”
I’m having some emotions about it!
“He was elemental in my life,“ Springsteen adds, “and losing him was like losing the rain.”
Not just! I love you pure and deep and true but! I am going to love you like that in front of the whole damn world!
We have fewer narratives about taking risks and making statements for platonic love rather than romantic and supposedly it would be easier to downplay this onstage than romance and! They refused! They fucking refused! In front of hundreds of thousands of people, over the course of years! In the spotlight, in word and deed, I love you!
God I’m not okay about it
Now I’m mad that this is not among any of the things I was ever told about this artist.
I knew about this in general (& via all those fabulous photos), but this just adds even more beautiful context <3
Just to add to the pile: this was the cover of Springsteen’s break-through album Born to Run, in 1975:
I mean, will you LOOK at this:
This was the pic chosen for the album cover from an extensive photoshoot, too. A few others:
There’s a lot more online if you search. They’re all pretty amazing. But the photographer is right, the one chosen for the album cover just pops.
I’m still obsessed with the STORM video by Gener8ion. I think it’s meaningful as a whole, but the viral choreographed dance begins at 4:18
The beginning’s ratcheting tension of brittle masculinity explodes in the second part with the catharsis of dance. It’s so gorgeous.
Still thinking about it. My favorite part is when they look like:
))))))))))))))
(((((((((((((

And then they go like:
XZKWXKXV
WKVXYMXK
KWXVYMW
Writing is so great when you get THE VISIONS™️. It’s like you’re just letting the story flow through you.
Unfortunately trying to get that same brain to do edits and revisions feels like trying to get a crystal wearing hippy to do a speadsheet job and now she’s crying, she can’t do it. She’s telling you about new VISIONS but it’s not VISIONS time, it’s editing time, just do the edits.
Yeah, I’m struggling.

I rewatched The Wizard of Oz with my kids for the first time since I was a little girl and here’s what I noticed:
Aunt Em is a sweetheart. I thought she was mean but caring, but no, she’s actually wonderful the whole time.
Dorothy is a kid. I pictured her as a young adult when I was little but she’s just a sweet but rash kid. Kids are messes. And they’re perfect. Dorothy is perfect.
It’s very much like watching a play. It’s not like the movies my kids watch, but it held their attention.
At the end, Dorothy says, “We got the witches broom, we melter her :D” So now we cheerily say “We melted her!” as an inside joke.
Anyway, it holds up!

That's because this is Silmarillion
So...does the book have a title yet? 👀 I wanna add it to my massive list of books so I don't forget and can check every four months if it's been published yet.
You are so kind! It’s called The Bone Mask by L.A. Hughes and it’s not listed anywhere yet but I will be sure to put links everywhere when it is. Here’s a little pic I made for it.
The first rule of self publishing is to have fun and be yourself.
The second rule of self publishing is to fist fight the CEO of Spotify in the Denny’s parking lot with your keys sandwiched between the knuckles of your fists.
I finally decided to self pub my masked man romantasy so I’m writing this down. I wanna do it right.
#it’s about escaping a cult and getting found by the monster in the woods#and he’s a consent king!
hello, yes, I'm seated. You have my attention.
(sits down next to you in the booth with my big purse and my sunglasses still on)
So there’s this remote village in the northern valley of a mountain. It’s run by a violent priest who hates women. Devon is accused of being a witch (really, she just hasn’t given her husband a child and he wants to move on) and they march her up the mountain and tie her to a stone to be judged by god. But god doesn’t come for her. The Bear does. (He’s the village warrior who snapped and killed the other warriors and now stalks the mountainside in his bone mask.) (Or did he??) (He did.)
He takes her home to recover before she starts a new life somewhere else, but then they’re snowed in! It’s about Devon learning to listen to her own wants and finding her power. There’s a cat. And the worst horse in the world. I just feel like we could use a story about somebody escaping patriarchy and getting happily railed in the woods.
Oh, so the bear chose her.
You know what? Sold. I’d read that.
Thank you so much. I’ve been in the query trenches so long, waiting to be chosen and I’m ready to say, you know, I choose me.

Downfall is so good, but it’s wild Noah Kahan wrote a song about my mom only loving me when I’m failing.
