yeah, they did. I wrote up a big long post about the Trevor Project and the 12 hour charity livestream I'm participating in right now, and they deleted it. twice. We've raised over $50,000 for a legitimate charity but because it helps trans kids it gets deleted from the site

I think it's kinda fascinating how the idea of the 'hero sacrificing you for the world and the villain sacrificing the world for you' continues to grow and evolve in the way it's viewed.

I'm sure we all agree in real life terms that the hero is right. Cause it would be awful to sacrifice a planet ever if it's someone they love. And it's utterly horrific if someone literally destroys so many people for you.

I logically get the appeal, (devotion, sacrifice for love being seen as romantic, etc) but I have never been able to enjoy it much.

Perhaps I just always like to think there is a way to keep both.

Please reblog. Tumblr is Banned in the Philippines. IDK if there are still Filipinos who can see/access this.

PHTwitter is understandably crashing out over the ban, because Tumblr is no fucking way an "illegal gambling site" when there are other sites and ads that literally promote said gambling.

Apparently it was the government that demanded the ban NOT the internet providers like I've thought before. A handful of internet providers are affected like Converge. I'm not sure with the other internet providers (PLDT, Globe, Smart Wifi etc.) though since I haven't seen anyone mention it as far as I'm aware, but Filipinos can access Tumblr through mobile data just fine. If that's subject to change, I'm unsure.

I've seen people using VPN's as a backdoor access and that works fine for now at least to the people using it. There is a reason why people can/can't bypass the ban, but I'm not too technical enough to explain that, but it boils down to essentially needing to switch your DNS on your devices from the local one you're using (ie DICT, PHNET, GetaFIX) to a privately owned one (ie Google, CloudFlare, OpenDNS).

If you are a Filipino experiencing the Tumblr ban and using a VPN to access, there is a guide to help with you changing your DNS on your devices so you won't need to use a VPN (credit to Mgbenz on Reddit).

I don't know if this helps a lot since my reach isn't far in Tumblr, but hopefully it will.

I just hope the ban isn't a permanent thing and gets reconsidered, because, again, the reason for it so goddamn stupid and hypocritical.

God, I just want to rant about the Milo Winter situation a bit, not specifically to target him just in the broad strokes of indie authors and authors/artists in general who feel entitled to support, money, and admiration.

So many people want to be Brandon Sanderson, or Suzanne Collins, or any famous author. They want to be standing on stages and giving speeches about their hard work, having successful book releases and conventions and adoring fans of your characters and worlds. But they don't want to go through the growing pains. They want to skip the journey, the struggle and the uphill battle.

I'm not going to glaze myself, but I don't write and draw just because I want to get famous or rich. I simply love doing it. Storytelling is my passion, I think about my stories all the time. (Even recently thinking that I've hurt some of my relationships. No worries I am okay). To me, the growing pains IS the reward and if I happen to get on a stage one day, or get rich, or whatever the fuck thats just a bonus. But it just irks me. People who get these opportunities and do seem to care but they trip and stumble the whole way through for no reason other than ego and entitlement for what they think they should've gotten.

This is why I can't be an internet personality. And I just want to appear, drop a few books and arts, and then vanish into the night. I just want to share my characters and stories that I love and the stories that I would've loved as a child with others. Hate them or love them, I don't care as long as I could share these imperfect tales.

It's just sad when people care more about the glory than the comradry of storytelling.
