The body of 18 year old Nolan Xavier Wells has unfortunately been found after he went missing from Horn Island, Mississippi. Wells went boating with a group of boys — the rest of the party being white — on July 4th, but he was the only one who didn’t return to shore.

It is becoming increasingly dangerous to be the only black person in a group. Rest in peace, Nolan. You deserve justice.

Update:

I’ve found his family’s GoFundMe for his funeral and celebration of life expenses. This campaign was created by their family friend Allayah Denis and is the only campaign they have, all others are fraudulent. They haven’t reached their goal yet, and funeral expenses are an incredible burden, so if you have the means please consider donating.

As of right now there appears to be no investigation yet, but hopefully there will be soon. Mississippi representative Bennie G. Thompson has publicly urged authorities for an investigation on his social media. If you have any more information please let me know. I’ll put any further updates in a reblog.

Please keep an eye on and your heart open for the Nolan Wells story in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. I haven't seen anyone post anything on it, but it's a story that's currently ongoing here in Mississippi, so I'll do my best to relay it as best as possible.

A group of boys traveled to Horn Island on July 4th by boat, with 18 year old Nolan Wells being the only Black boy in the group. Allegedly, Nolan was last seen with a girl on the island, then nobody saw him again. The girl said he left with his friends. His friends, however, say they believe he had gotten a ride back to the mainland with someone else. Again, these are alleged accounts. His cell phone was later found.

Tragically, he was found deceased today. The exact cause of death hasn't been released yet, but it has been stated that there are no indications of drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.

Things are still being investigated, but given he was the only Black boy in that group, and how things have been in Mississippi lately after what happened to the baby in Senatobia, we can't deny the implications. An entire group leaving an island with no account for the whereabouts of their friend raises too many questions.

Damesha Hunter was only 32 years old when her life was tragically taken on October 14th, 2010. The young woman was found shot to death inside her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Damesha’s death has been a devastating loss for her loved ones, especially her four children. This loss continues to be amplified by the fact that Damesha’s killer(s) have still not been brought to justice. 

Damesha’s husband, Laroye Hunter III, told police that he was at work at the time of the murder, but that he spoke to Damesha on the phone shortly before she was killed. Laroye explained that, during their phone conversation, he heard someone come to Damesha’s front door. He said that Damesha put down the phone to see who was at the door and never returned.

Laroye then said that he went home to check on Damesha and found that she had been shot inside the residence. Police were called, and Damesha was pronounced deceased on the scene. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Damesha’s friends and family describe her as a loving mother who was a friend to all. On the surface level, a motive for Damesha’s murder seems difficult to determine - as she did not have any known enemies. However, a closer look into Damesha’s relationships and the events leading up to her murder may hold the answers.
