HIS     COUNTENANCE     LIES     .            sits        there                &                has        something        hellish        behind        golden        hue    .        the        words        escape        him    ,        something        desperate        seethes        behind        his        veins    .              *        WHAT        IS        ACCEPTANCE                ?                    when        you        created        yourself        anew        in        the        ashes        of        a        forgotten        love        never        received    .        he        ignores        the        former    ,        lets        the        other        bask        in        his        own                     sardonic        wit                    before        hand        pushes        back        ebon        strands        of        hair    .        a        pause        as        eyes        close                &                inhale        feels        sharp        against        his        lungs    .                ❝            i        was        at        my        first        war        meeting    .        a        general        suggested        they        put        new        troops        on        the        front        lines                          as        bait        for        slaughter    .                       i        spoke        out        of        turn        against        him    .        i        thought        i        was        going        to        be        fighting        the        general        but        it        was        in        my        father’s        war        room    ,        it        had        disrespected        him    .        as        soon        as        i        realized    ,        i        begged        for        mercy    .        you        know        the        rest    .            ❞                

HIS MOVEMENTS ARE SLOW  --  C A U T I O N E D  as he listens , placing his palm against the fallen trunk and setting himself down on the ground . across from him : zuko , gilded by the fire between them . absently he reaches forward to stoke the flames only to be suddenly reminded of who sat so near . foolish .

On her part, she wasn’t known for being gentle or good with people at all, wondered just how bad her teaching skills would be; she was curious about his interest, though. Sokka seemed relatively well equipped for both close and ranged combat considering his weapons of choice; the knives were certainly more effective than a boomerang, on her opinion, but Mai wasn’t sure he’d agree to that. Perhaps it was simply curiosity on his part on how much of a difference there would be between using one or the other.

  Agreement had been unenthusiastic, yet she did agree; Mai would make an effort not to be too terrible a teacher, if she had anything useful to teach him. First command was simply meant to see his skill and what would need most improving. Expecting it not to be completely off, Mai readied herself to deflect it, if needed be.      —      @weapondanced

WITH HIS HANDS RAISED HIGH , elbows balanced and tucked , sokka wondered for a brief moment how exactly he had gotten here . mai wasn’t the most approachable of people , certainly not very forthcoming . but the request had come almost instinctively one night , after he’d seen her training alone .

THE WEAPON IS SENT SOARING , slicing through the space between . it’s aim just off centre ; headed for the point at her right cheekbone .
