Hunger Games Valentine's Podfic Exchange 2026 is revealed! Go listen to the podfics now!

Thanks to the authors allowing their works to be made into podfics, and big thanks to the podficcers for bringing these works to life.

As a side note, two podfics aren't up yet but I've been in communication with the podficcers and they are made, there's just some technical difficulties with posting. We're working on it!

I'd definitely recommend using the tool Winaero Tweaker instead, which not only can disable Copilot in a single click, but has so many features inside which can make windows just a little bit less insane to use, including removing telemetry, and even reverting some UI changes (though controversial i think 11 does look better than 10. coughs)

it's simply a frontend to gpedit and regedit as you kindaaa shouldnt be going in there and changing things yourself as things might break.

heres a fun thing you can do as well: try installing it by opening your terminal, and typing "winget install winaero.tweaker". which is Windows' built in package manager. you can also use "winget upgrade winaero.tweaker" to keep it up to date (really a good thing to do as Microsoft loves changing things around) or "winget upgrade --all" to update everything on your computer which winget supports.

it's a very handy (though extremely shitty) tool that will get you used to the main difference between windows and Linux, if you ever plan on switching. Its also just pretty convenient, you can even use it to install Microsoft Store stuff without an account, and was my preferred way to install anything while using Windows anyway.

Last year was the first Hunger Games Valentine's Podfic Exchange. It began in order to combat developers monetizing fanfic with AI voices. We've now moved into our own blog to host this annually!

💌 What it is

Sign up as a podficcer and/or a fanfic author. I'll match up a podficcer to their "valentine" (a fanfic author) and set up a collection on ao3 for all of the podfic.

💌 Who can participate?

Anyone with an ao3 account can be a podficcer. Yes, even with your accent! Yes, even with just your phone to record! No matter what, you're better than any AI voice because you're human.

The works getting the podfic treatment are all part of the Hunger Games/TBOSAS/SOTR fandom. Any pairing or OC is ok! The only limit is that no podficcer will be expected to record for a work longer than 3k words, whether it's a one-shot or a chapter from a longer work.

💌 How?

First, we'll have a round of sign-ups for authors. Then once we have a total number of authors, we'll have a sign-up for those who would want to make a podfic. You can do one or both of these roles. Once we have the total number of podficcers to match the authors that sign up, we'll close the sign up for podficcers. We'll make matches between the podficcer and author and share with the podficcer the author they were assigned.

You will be able to submit to the ao3 collection on February 12 and the collection will go live on February 14 at 6:00 am PST.

💌 Why should I join?

Some people prefer to listen to audiobooks for a variety of reasons, including accessibility, and this helps expand their options for listening to fanfiction. It's a fun fandom-building activity. And as mentioned before, there have been a couple of attempts to monetize fanfiction with AI reading fanfic and this is a way to throw up a middle finger at this effort and give a gift to fanfiction authors.

Acts of Goodness-Mollywog (ao3) Summary: Katniss makes a friend on her Victory Tour A Home on the Shore-thesweetnessofspring (ao3) Summary: Peeta tells a story to his daughter about a boy from the mountain, forced to become a Peacekeeper, and a selkie he met that sang a song he would never forget. What will change in this new home? the districts apart program-fkatwirls (ao3) Summary: when katniss everdeen and her friend gale, both residents of district 12, were asked to host participants from a work/study program, she had no idea what to expect of the district 7 pair. johanna mason is more than a handful, she is sure of that. but there is something about peeta mellark that makes her wish, sometimes, that they weren't districts apart. where the heart can bloom-dhpanya10 (ao3) Summary: Instead of focusing on them and making love rather than rebellion the reason for the Mockingjay’s actions, President Snow decides separating them, showing their relationship as insignificant and slowly fading them into obscurity is the way to go. Meanwhile, Katniss can’t figure out why being districts apart from Peeta hurts so much when they hadn’t spoken in months before this anyway.

The Chaotic Mellark's Family Vacation

Chapter 4 Summary: The Chaotic Mellarks are on the move again; they're traveling to see Annie and Grandma for the twins' birthday party. Nothing can go wrong, except Peeta might need to pull Meadow from her translating retirement, the chaos twins thinking they're pirates, oh, and ruined ice.

In the morning, Peeta called Ruta, their driver, asking her if she was available to drive them. She was more than happy to come and pick them up.

Getting the kids up and moving in the morning was a small feat.

Diana and Hunter became upset that they weren't taking the beds at the cottage with them. They were standing in the room, Hunter's eyes were wider than saucers. Large tears were streaming down his face.

Diana stood next to her brother, her arms crossed, definitely holding her ground.

"Mama, I wan," Hunter said.

"I wan," Diana demanded, stomping her little foot. "Bawing bed."

"The beds don't belong to you," Peeta said.

"No Dada, bawing bed. Bed my!" She pursed her lips.

"The beds here are your vacation beds to use while we are here. We can't take them with us."

"Bawing home," Diana demanded.

"Yesh, Dada!" Hunter cried.

Peeta looked for reinforcements. Katniss and Peeta always saw parenting as a shared experience. When one of them was striking out with the kids, the other would step in to help. It wasn't easy raising four children with different personalities, tastes, and at different developmental stages. The twins tended to act and think like one. Peeta was losing this argument big time. He was having a hard time finding a way to redirect them.

Katniss sighed. She mouthed, "Tag, I'm in."

Toast baby boy is very quiet and very clingy. He’s a momma’s boy all the way but also loves to shadow his older sister and imitate her. He’s quite shy, and tends to stick to his mother’s side, even getting made fun of for it as he gets older. Peeta feels truly privileged getting to watch his little boy grow up with such a loving and gentle mother.

In my head, they both have plant/flower names.

Anyway, this is how I picture them:

She’s your problem now, not mine,” Haymitch said, shrugging.  “Haymitch, normally she’s a great cook, like phenomenal, but lately she’s been burning everything.” After yet another burnt breakfast this morning, he couldn’t do it again. The kids were suffering as well. “This morning, the kids didn’t want to eat the burned mush she made. A few days ago, she burned hard-boiled eggs, and the centers were still runny! I’m not even sure how she did that!” Peeta stood up, “She’s so adamant about cooking so that I can rest. It’s sweet, but I’m starving, Haymitch.” He began pacing. “The kids are starving,” Peeta ran his hands through his hair.  “Yesterday she made me lunch...” Peeta didn’t get to finish. “How horrible. Your beautiful wife made you lunch.” “She burned the bread.” “If I recall, burned bread is a thing between both of you.”
