preferred mode of transportation?
As a kid, comic art seemed polarized into "Kirby" or "Ditko", and all artists flowed from one stream or the other. Of course one must choose a side, except Keith Giffen who must have been a triple secret agent, jumping from one camp to the other, the bastard. I was a Kirby guy, and Ditko was underwhelming. Recently, I've come to appreciate his subtlety, and fabulous storytelling. So, if I get old enough, maybe I'll finally enjoy Don Heck and Carmine Infantino?
Bowie died of embarrassment so that indie-rock could be born.
It could be said that after disappearing up his own ass, sometimes brilliantly, during the Berlin Trilogy, that the EMI Bowie was an over-correction, a fear reaction to a base that had reached their limits. Style over substance? Yeah, but wow, that guy could sing the phonebook and be poignant. I have fond memories of "Let's Dance", Richochet IS incredible. This just in: "The Next Day" is a great, great, album
Look who crashed the Wings concert! The song was "Magneto and the Titanium Man". Yes, Crimson Dynamo once again, isn't the cool kid.

Just a LITTLE more love for Bill Mantlo....
It’s no real secret that I’ve become quite the Rocket Raccoon aficionado as of…well, not LATE per-se, but within the last few years. I’m not really jumping on a bandwagon so to speak, because I had (and enjoyed) his mini-series as a kid (at least a couple of issues), and was excited when Byrne...
Amen. As many of our creator/heroes find themselves in need after decades of making whole universes for us, few need us as much as Bill.

well worth doing, thanks Greg.
Just some ROM love on a Saturday! Covers by Mike Golden, interiors by Sal Buscema. I wondered what had become of Bill Mantlo, and learned that he's been in perpetual care since a hit and run in the early nineties, horribly, horribly sad. Thank you Bill for a lot of fun reading for me as a kid.
I NEED these! After Rogers left, a young Michael Golden stepped in? wow.....
Remembering better days. Cancelled again. And gutted. There are still stories to tell.
Great genre awareness, Hank! - Avengers #30
Holy hell, just realized I'm a villain, wish you coulda told me sooner Hank! *sigh*, okay, so, uhh, I'm gonna need some minions, and a death ray or two. Do they sell those at Home Depot?
