Craft Project: The “Second-Best Day” Blanket
There’s a trite old saying, “The best time to plant a tree was thirty years ago, the second best time is today”
The summer after I graduated high school, the discount store near me had a sale on these fleece scarves. Originally sold for $1, they were down to 67¢, so I picked a bunch up with the intention of making them into a knotted quilt as a quick & easy craft project.
For the record, I graduated high school in 2003.
This “quick” project has taken me 23 years to complete, but this summer I finally made the damn blanket!!
Here are the steps:
Cut polar fleece fabric into large squares
Make 1.5” cuts every 0.5” around the edges to make fringe
Clip off corners
Double knot fringe together while watching anime
Enjoy
The blanket looks nice! Not “hold on to cheapass material for decades, through multiple moves, spending far more on storage alone than you saved in the first place,” but nice.
The whole project took me about three days of leisurely work.
Also, to thank my furry assistant Millie for all her hard work interfering with my project, I made her a cat toy from some scraps.
